Why is there celebrity worship syndrome, but I never hear about mathematician worship syndrome or philosopher worship syndrome?

Yes you do. See shmucks on this board like Tweetophon. They exist but they’re rarer.

Mathematician and Philosopher worship would be part of Celebrity worship you dumbass.

Just look at Einstein, he has celebrity status.
>>23141364
Also this, celebrity doesn't imply ones profession or field.

Only nerds like us do that. Worship is not the verb I would chose, however. I admire them and aspects of their lives, character, or achievement. I do not worship them.

You have to know at least a little bit about physics to fangirl over Newton. Normie shit like celebrity dating drama has no barrier of entry

Does anyone look up to Mathematicians like young women do to Taylor Swift?
They are just seem as smart nerd University professors. I don't see people caring about them or their opinion (which is fair enough, they are just good at mathematics)

parasocial relationships are poison and social media is spreading it at a proliferating rate every newborn will be made subservient

I celebrate shit like Joyce since he was a genius, and he's tied to my interest in reading/writing. Most become interested or fascinated with someone when their interest is tied to them. I also sometimes unintentionally worship celebrities like Olivia Rodrigo or Keira Knightley for the other reason we overly celebrate the famous. a
Attractiveness and talent are inherently interesting regardless if someone cares that much of the celebrity talent all that much

>philosopher worship syndrome
that's just marxism

Because entertainment celebrities, influencers, etc. got rich despite having no discernible talent or ethics; it was mostly luck. The unwashed masses see that, believe it could happen to them, and so they idolize such people. Getting good at mathematics takes time, effort, and talent. Getting "good" at philosophy, though it's totally useless, at least requires time, effort, and memorization.

Celebrity worship is a two fold weapon. Firstly its the worship of false idols, a metaphysical attack on the structure of society. Instead of worshiping a brazen bull we worship brazen bullshitters.
2nd is the replacement of the ruling class in the public's eye. Instead of the 'high society pages' we have celebrity gossip. Instead of Scooter Braun's master having to come out in public and promote trans perversions he can have his other minion Taylor Swift do so.

To be fair OP, I'd not heard about celebrity worship syndrome before reading this thread, ether.

Philosophy is one big ancestoral saucefest worship.

I feel like celeb worship isn’t really a thing anymore. It’s something you grow out of.
>>23141953
What about actors and singers and such? They take work. I feel like most of the celebrities people actually care about are not even worshipped just liked for whatever work they bring into the world. No one really cares about people that literate bring nothing into the world like Kim kardishian or whatever else I feel like
>>23141323
Also to answer your question it’s probably just because it’s boring as silly as that sounds. I mean there are celebrity scientists that are liked for their “genius”

If it makes me feel better even though this was in the past I’m fairly sure Aristotle was cult figure in his time. And Euclid got famous after his elements book. But i don’t remember if this was after his death or while he was alive

>though it's totally useless
Philosophy is literally the study of what, if anything, is truly useful. Without some philosophical theory of a summum bonum towards which to justify your actions there's only relative, not absolute usefulness.

philosophy is useless as it does not result in monetary rewards there are the odd grifters like zizek but overall philosophy is useless for the American get rich at all costs society

You aren’t in intellectual/social circles high enough to hear or talk about it.

Actors are "skilled" at pretending they're someone else. And lots of people can sing...I see high-quality singers doing karaoke all the time. But very few singers can do so for a living.
>>23142196
If philosophy was that useful, philosophers would get paid better. Instead, they have to do something else for a living, e.g. lawyer, art critic, etc.
>>23142246
Can you name a non-American society where philosophy is useful and philosophers are revered? Me either.
