Visiting other shitshows such as /co/, /mu/, /his/ or God forbid, /v/, really makes you appreciate this place a lot more. People are more likely to be genuine, especially on the /wwoym/ threads, even if there's an overabundance of low effort bait threads, posturing, and clearly underage users compared to how it used to be a few years ago. You never know which knowledgeable lurker will pass by your thread and offer valuable insight. Or which anon's unlikely literary adventure will be shared here, such as the great guy who was attempting to write a book about the post-khmer rouge Cambodian landscape wherever he is.
It's not the most fun board to frequent for me, as that would be /pw/, but it certainly is the one that I've gained the most irl value out of all the rest. I wish /x/ hadn't gotten taken over by discord larpers, because it held a lot of potential.

A good portion of posters on this board are friendlier, more honest, smarter, and generally just better people compared to most other boards, on average.
HOWEVER, there is a large cohort of posters that plagues /lit/. It's the egotistical types with unwarranted pride. Sneering, posturing, confidently incorrect, etc. Sometimes they are genuine "pseuds", but not always. Often they are smart people, but they are being stupid in the moment (caught up in their pride). The more "intellectual-oriented" boards all have this problem to some extent, but /lit/ is probably the worst in this regard.
