I thought McCarthy was overhyped because he is worshipped by Chuds but holy shit this is actual literature.

What other book/author did you think was overhyped and turned out to be pretty good?

I've been wanting to watch the Road movie but can't see how it can do the book justice. No Country for Old Men might be on par with the book though. I've never read Blood Meridian but I've heard that be an impossible adaption to film

Huh, I've started reading it yesterday, I'm halfway through, and oh boy, it's average.

It's my first McCarthy book, he isn't too popular where I'm from. I hate how he writes and I can't really say why. It reads kind of like a dollar store Hemingway imitation.
