Plenty of modern bibles make Jesus a liar and sinner, and when you point this out to a lot of people who love these bastardized bogus bibles published by Satan, they won't hear it. They've found their version of a "bible" that conforms to their desires or to their religious system and they're comfortable in it, they don't mind the errors in the text because those or other errors allow their sin and impenitence and false doctrine. Whereas with the King James Bible, you don't get to have it your way because it is the Word of God, it is an accurate translation of the text best supported by history.

Granted this is not how everyone reads it, but there's a lot of stuff with a timeless quality which acts as a lens through which the issues of today can be examined. Studying from that angle means there's no way to try too hard because it keeps a focus on discovery of the timeless. There's always more to figure out about yourself, the world, and your place in it while so much other stuff in society is a superficial distraction that won't be important two weeks from now. The Bible is a great help in seeing past all that.
