Martin's world is really the best in all fantasy. Prove me wrong.

Fantasy is a terrible genre, often made with the express purpose of making a shitty slave allegory or "ultimate power corrupts" bullshit. It's for children... yes, even GRRM's schlock

His writing is only slightly better than generic fantasy slop. Frankly that's a compliment, there are few fantasy writers that actually stand out and he's one of them.

it writes itself
Germ doesn't care but this landscape would have fucking BONKERS ocean currents/Hadley cells and 95% odds his depictions are totally unrealistic, but I could do the deep logic on it

I agree
some other books lean way too hard into the heroes journey, or their original ideas just get fucking weird. Terry Goodkind's wizard's first law was about a shota wizard raped by a dominatrix lol and he has to ignore the trauma as a plot point

Yeah, Dorne wouldn't be dry and sandy, it would be soaking wet. Hot water would be driven north through the narrow sea into the shitty sea to circulate and that means temperate weather.
I drew a shitty thermohaline mockup. Everything around the Jade sea should be fucking steamy but I'll try and brain out how atmospheric cells might look

I saw the 900 mile marker and was questioning it, but again this actually looks spot on. There should be about a 2200 mile gap between those 30 latitude markers and there it is.

My buddy is making this elaborate fantasy world. I love natural science so I helped him out with rain shadows and stuff. But his world is higher fantasy than cheech and chong. The world was literally created by super-mega-ultra-god who made like twelve other gods and they all have an aspect (fire, water, wind, earth, ice, light, dark, destruction, creation, i think others). They all have spots around his planet, located with towers, and they all have cults or nations but some are atheists somehow. He's spitballed like 8000 years of lore or something but wants to hyperfocus on how cool his heroes are.
>is the world tectonically active or something?
>nah, gods just made it that way
His greatest mistake was writing in time travel and "multiple timelines" - there's at least five and the original timeline was "doomed". His influences look like Elder Scrolls but I don't think he's ever played that, it's more like Homestuck and Final Fantasy. His goal is to make an MMO. I'd play his MMO because he goes balls in on character customization through machines augmentation and polymorphing.
I thought about giving him more advice, like if his planet had a weird tilt so light nation got more sunlight and dark nation got less, and logically heat and ice place should be adjacent, but it's little use. Also I doubt he would ever pay me for it "cause we're friends".

Wouldn't that depend on the atmospheric CO2 levels? There could be high CO2.

>> No.22997704

>>22997688
nah
If plankton exist then CO2 just gets entombed in limestone. Minor fluctuations in CO2 won't change temperature very much. Germ as well as Sanderson with his Stormlight Archives apparently have unstable axis planets where seasons change seemingly at random.
