I generally find people who are interested in Dostoevsky are interested in other things through him. Generally because Dostoevsky was a philosopher foremost, but in his artistry cloaked philosophy in literature. Typically whenever someone says "omg this is so deep!1!" whatever the format, be it literature, film, art, video games, etc, it's just philosophy 101 packaged in an aesthetically palatable form. Dostoevsky however takes on whole centuries of thought in his novels and situates entire debates in his dramas.

Go back and read Walter Scott, that’s who Dosto read the most as a kid. That’s where he gets his powerful heroines, morality and pastoral robber of the Volga themes. Ibsen and Dosto are also very similar in essence, same heroines that Shakespeare only matched with Venus and Adonis. And then Herman Hesse I feel like has the same type of ‘universal individualism’ that Ibsen and Dosto do but I haven’t read him in awhile. It’s like an Abrahamic thing where the only thing that has real quality and reality is man and God.
