lol no. All AI can do is produce grammatically coherent sentences in a style, it cannot produce a coherent story. The reason this works for Chinese fiction is because their stories are just rambling nonsensical shit to begin with, without any consideration given to narrative structure.

>but there's literary Chinese SF as well.
I seriously doubt any of it is worth reading. The PRC is not a country which encourages freedom of thought and actively discourages ideas it deems to be harmful to the CCP. For example, no Chinese author will ever publish an alternate timeline or near future story where the CCP does not exist or else was defeated by its enemies. Likewise, no speculation of technology or science can occur which casts aspersions on current Chinese society. In short: nothing can be published which might cause the reader to start thinking critically about Chinese society. This is why all Chinese fantasy is utterly vapid, nothing which provokes serious thought is permitted.

>There are plenty of other better theories to write fiction about:

>Panspermia:
This hypothesis suggests that life exists throughout the Universe and is distributed by space dust, meteoroids, asteroids, comets, planetoids, or potentially by spacecraft in the form of unintended contamination by microorganisms. Panspermia does not explain how life originated, but suggests that it could have spread from one planet to another.

>Abiogenesis:
Unlike evolution, which describes how life changes over time, abiogenesis is the theory about how life first arose from non-living matter. It suggests that life on Earth began through natural processes from inorganic substances, eventually leading to the formation of cells.

>RNA World Hypothesis:
This is a widely accepted hypothesis in scientific circles that suggests that before DNA and proteins, early life was based on RNA. It posits that self-replicating RNA molecules played a crucial role in the early evolution of life.

>Directed Panspermia:
This is a variation of the panspermia hypothesis, suggesting that life on Earth might have been purposely seeded by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization. This idea borders on both science and science fiction and has been a topic of debate and discussion.

>Clay Hypothesis:
Some scientists have proposed that complex organic molecules may have formed on the surfaces of clay minerals on primitive Earth. The theory suggests that these surfaces could provide the right environment for the formation of life.

>Deep-Sea Vent Theory:
This theory suggests that life might have begun at hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, where mineral-laden water provides a rich chemical environment in which life could begin.

>Electric Spark Hypothesis:
This idea is based on the famous Miller-Urey experiment, which demonstrated that organic compounds necessary for life could be synthesized from inorganic materials under conditions simulating those of early Earth, including the presence of an electric spark, simulating lightning.

>> No.22859648

>>22859634
>Spontaneous Generation:
This is an ancient belief that life can spontaneously emerge from non-living matter. It was a prevalent idea before the development of modern biology and was disproved by experiments such as those conducted by Louis Pasteur in the 19th century.

>Lamarckism:
Proposed by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck in the early 19th century, this theory suggested that organisms can pass on traits acquired during their lifetime to their offspring. For example, a giraffe stretching its neck to reach leaves would then give birth to offspring with longer necks. This idea has been largely discredited in favor of Darwinian evolution.

>Orthogenesis:
Also known as "straight-line evolution," this theory proposed that evolution follows a predetermined or fixed path, driven by some internal or external "force" rather than natural selection. It suggests a sort of directed evolution, which is inconsistent with the random mutations and natural selection of Darwinian theory.

>Vitalism:
This is the belief that living organisms are fundamentally different from non-living entities because they contain some non-physical element or are governed by different principles than inanimate things. While not a theory of the origin of life per se, it challenges the idea that life can be fully explained by physical and chemical processes alone.

>Creationism and Intelligent Design:
These are religiously motivated views that propose life was created by a divine being or intelligent designer. While these are not scientific theories (as they cannot be tested or falsified), they are commonly cited in opposition to evolutionary theory.

>Cosmic Ancestry:
This is a modern version of panspermia, which suggests that life, or the precursors of life, came from outer space and that life on Earth is descended from this extraterrestrial life. Unlike standard panspermia, it sometimes incorporates the notion that the evolution of life is influenced or directed by an external cosmic force or intelligence.

>Hoyle's Fallacy:
Proposed by astronomer Fred Hoyle, it's the idea that the probability of life evolving on Earth is comparable to the chance that a tornado sweeping through a junkyard would assemble a Boeing 747. This argument, often used against the likelihood of evolution, has been widely criticized and debunked by scientists.

Speed of improvement and iterations, sheer numbers, flexibility. It's simply faster to get it out there, fixed, improved. Are you going to train 500 astronauts or print the same probe 500 times? Should they carry astronauts or just print more of themselves when they arrive? Who can communicate faster and better? Two guys talking or two robots sharing information?
>>22859713
They probably would. Think of self learning in what we call AI now, nothing like actual AI but think of that. I see no reason why other than printing the same model (even then you want divergence) why would any given robot need to think the same.
Print a literal army of the same guy with shifted values and you can get innovation going on. Maybe a certain AI works better with another than just themselves (for your own criteria)

And this is just with the could happen in the near future, not bringing fiction and characters into it. I don't see why robots would need to think the same.

Of all modern fantasy writers Sanderson is easily my favorite.
And don't get me wrong, Sanders isn't really special at all and you miss nothing if you don't read Sanderson books.
But with Sanderson it's basically a cult you are "joining" and a very unique experience.
Sanderson's writing is the definition of "mid" and he wouldn't write about a porn scene, even if you hold a gun to his head.
But this is why Sanderson is so successful. His success is literally just being more consistent than his competition
>easy to read writing style
>he ACTUALLY FINISHES HIS BOOKS!!! (just look at GRRM or Rothfuss. You get cucked since 2011... Hell, don't be surprised if Sanderson finishes GRRM's sixth and seventh book...)
>you always get new books from Sanderson
>because he has no porn writing, you actually read his books for the story and not just to read the next creampie scene
>he is so large, that you can chose between a lot of different physical versions
>he actually promises something and DELIVERS

Sure, Sanderson is full with faults and everything he does is nothing special in itself. But reading his books is like talking to an old friend who was always there for you, even though he is nothing special.

The biggest advantage of Sanderson is simply that he isn't a sjw. Sure, the moment he starts talking about politics or religion his books are shitting themselves and you can skip the next 20 pages, but he is still very old school and a nice person in general.

Sanderson is also one of the few authors I can actually read from start to finish without dropping the book. I dropped 1984, I dropped Lolita, I dropped to many other books that were recommended, because I simply don't like the writing style. Especially Lolita is a book that is all about one specific theme and the whole hype would be gone if she would have been just 18 years old. The same with 1984. The moment you ignore the whole "the state is watching you" meme, it become a boring drag that just stagnates after the first few pages.

It's insane how Sanderson makes me to continue reading. Especially garbage like this other shilled dude here is something I instantly dropped. I couldn't take more than 40 pages of reading some over-complicated writing with the only goal to pretend that "I'm so smart". If I want to read very boring and tedious written garbage, I would just pull out law books.
It's insane how so many writers don't understand that no one gives a fuck about your copy pasted grammar or very uncommon words. People want to read a story and not a repetition of the 1000 least used words and grammar in literature.

Ok. In the context of a compelling story, if they're programmed differently with the same ultimate goal in mind, then sure dramatic conflicts will arise, just like human stories. I guess the author would have to arbitrarily deoptimize the robots by having them speak English to be relatable to the reader. Which is fine. Or have dialogue that suggests opposing logics.
And as for personality and opinions I dont know enough about your setting. Who is doing the printing and programming of these robots? Human or a Godbot or purely accidental techno-evolution. Maybe theyre intentionally programmed with differences to account for every possible outcome, and even redundancies.
So, overall I guess the answer to the OP question "Do you think people could relate to full on robots?", the answer is yes, if you write them like humans.

In the scene, Mazrim Taim with a couple of Asha-man barge in on a meeting that Elayne is having. As soon as they enter the room, Elayne opens herself to a link, and the three other girls immediately slip into the link. Merilille first. It was remarked how easy and quick Merilille linked up. So not only is she adept enough to make a link in a second, she's also sharp enough to decide on making the link in a second.
In fact, not only is it noted how quickly the power users acted. It's also noted how every women quickly shifted to wield their respective weapons in a concealed manner.

Mazrim was already aware they embraced the source, and told his men to be at ease. Mistakenly believing only 2 women held it, when 4 did. They talk a while about this and that issue. Then another person barges in the room to call Elayne to her appointment. And the whole situations plays out with Elayne undressing in front of everyone. If Taim was going to take issue with channeling by that point, and a mere screen to keep Elayne modest, it would be very odd of him.

And no, I'm not overthinking things. I'm being forced to explain what *should* be obvious to the oblivious.

>Hyperion = Interplanetary high tech trooning
>The Prince of Nothing = Bakker is for fags and fags are for Bakker.
>The Wandering Inn = Stay at home moms power fantasy with a main character whos most prominent power is complaining while being a pacivist.
>Between Two Fires = Heaven Vs hell but in medievil FRANCE!
>Mother of Learning = Time loop and like all of the subgenre goes literally nowhere over and over again, has a decent magic system and a main characters sister that is annoying as fuck.
>Cradle = Every second novel is a dud in the series with a birdbath of a main character. Only decent thing is the fights that get stale real quick because it does not take long to realize they are all ill conceived magical games of uno.
>I Shall Seal the Heavens = Proto xianxia at its worst, MC gets kidnapped into strong but lowly down on its luck sect. Queue haughty young masters, saving face and swilling ginseng infused tiger penis soup by the gallon.
>A Song of Ice and Fire = Fantastical medieval degeneracy where the caracters who should live die and the characters who should die live. Also author is too busy getting fat and old to finish the series.

>He Who Fights with Monsters = every character that isnt the MC is just there to be amazed at how smart Jason is while he tells them shit they already know before reminding them (incorrectly i might add) that 'Oh you have no idea".
>Dungeon Crawler Carl = The MC's sidekick (A cat named 'Princess Donut') is so much smarter than Carl (the MC) that every scene the two are in is eye-gougingly painful. This would not be so much of a problem if such scenes did not constitute the majority of the series.
>System Universe = After the initial premise is established it turns into how to pander to followers at a snails pace AKA; 'Filler McFiller Face - The Excessively Extended Sleep Inducing Saga'.
>Dissonance = MC gets god fucked more then once as he goes about becoming a man/bear/goat/pig/axolotl hybrid who also has many super sekret identities.
>Defiance of the Fall = Brain dead MC with very-much-just-barely opposed kingdom building with a wafer thin cultivation system
>Iron Prince = edgy school setting with even edgier MC who has lightning powers and no discernible challenges what so ever.

"A Pathway, or Path of the Divine, corresponds to a series of 10 named potion formulas that give access to supernatural and mystical powers. Once a being has drunk a potion, they are said to have become a Beyonder of that pathway. Each pathway belongs to a group containing one or more neighboring pathways, which a Beyonder can safely switch within at High-Sequence. At the end of each pathway, only one Beyonder can attain divinity and become the unique True God of that pathway. "

So it's actually a potion based class system that actually has nothing to do with the tarot scene at the beginning?

See when you try to sell it to me like that i want to read it.

But this is an excerpt from the first chapter;

"Why would I suddenly have such an excruciating headache in the middle of the night?

And it’s really painful!

Could it be something like a cerebral hemorrhage?

F**k, don’t tell me I’m going to die young?

I need to wake up! Now!

Eh? Why doesn’t it seem to hurt as much as before? But why does it still feel like a blunt knife is slicing through my brains…

From the looks of it, sleep is impossible. How am I to show up for work tomorrow?

Why am I still thinking about work? This is some authentic headache. Of course I have to take time off! I don’t have to worry about my manager’s grumblings!

Hey, putting it that way, it doesn’t seem too bad. Hehe, I can end up getting some spare time for myself!

Throbbing pain inundated Zhou Mingrui, allowing him to slowly accumulate immaterial strength until he was finally able to move his back and open his eyes. He finally broke free from his reverie."

I get it's a translation and have delved into more then a few bad translations of Korean, Japanese, Chinese even Philipino works in pursuit of novel entertainment. More often then not the above monologuing is a hallmark of a character who espouses the obvious frequently throughout the novel(which annoys me to no end). I stuck with it a few more chapters and yeah the writing (or translation) didn't improve. I'm glad you found a novel you enjoy and that you feel so passionate about it, also sorry that i cannot share your enthusiasm.

Just finished The Unholy Consult, Bakkerbros. Im trying to make sense of the ending. So: Kellhus' descent into madness is completed when he witnesses The Inverse Fire, then he becomes fully possessed by Ajokli so that Ajpkli can turn the world into a pseudo-hell. Kelmomas' motivations and actions are unseen by the gods because he possesses a soul that is of the Outside in his dead twin, he kills Kellhus' physical body, then gets shoved into that coffin and transforms into the No-God. Mimara and Acha's baby is born, Mimara sees Kellhus' soul with the Eye and lnows instantly that he is Ajokli. Serwe dies, Sorweel becomes le ebin White Luck Warrior but doesnt really do shit as Kelmomas spots him as he did with the previous one. I struggled to understand Cnaiür's conclusion, though. Which seems to imply that he was also possessed by Ajokli, or that when Kellhus' body died, Ajokli then possessed him? apologies for the wall of text

When Kellhus descends into the crowd at the end and Mimara sees him for what he is, that's the reactivated No-God disguised by the same tekne that the Mutilated used to hide themselves before Ajokli/Kellhus saw through it. Mimara is the only one who can see the truth right before the whirlwind starts to form. Kellhus is dead, killed because while he was possessed by Ajokli he was blinded to Kelmomas's presence, and when Kellhus the man spots his son, it breaks the possession and allows the nearest skin spy to touch him with the trinket. Since Kellhus is dead, Ajokli looks for his soul to devour it, but cannot find it. He possesses Cnaiur and walks into the whirlwind, right at the No God, because he literally cannot see it. He'd screaming for Kellhus's soul, which implies Kell had found a way to cheat death, likely due to the Decapitants. I hope some of this helps.

Do you expect the story to tediously follow every single waking moment of the main character? Or else do you expect every single moment of his life to be so noteworthy it must be chronicled in detail?

It's normal for stories to skip time to get to interesting moments. Ordinarily though you'd at least write a brief summary about the stuff you skipped, not just go "so anyway six months later".

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Pretty great novel, and his first one surprisingly, so I think he's actually gotten worse over time since a lot of his more recent stuff wasn't nearly this fun.
>CURRENTLY READING
The Desert Spear, book 2 of the Demon Cycle, by Peter V. Brett. Sequel to the Warded Man, I had an anon tell me he found this book a pain, but I'm enjoying it a lot right now. Jardir is a pretty compelling antagonist character.

>What explains the popularity of this genre? Is it autism?
Yes, absolutely. Many autists struggle with abstraction / metaphor so a lot of them take video game mechanics extremely literally. So where a normal person understands that video game mechanics are an abstraction used to represent things in a quantifiable way for the sake of gameplay, autists take it completely at face value and believe those abstractions are actually concrete aspects of the game world.

So in other words, for autists fantasy / sci-fi settings where people have UI floating in front of their face and modifiable stat blocks and leveling systems makes perfect sense because that is how they have understood sci-fi / fantasy stuff through games up til now.

Autism is very real, and it's one of the reasons it can be maddening talking to people on this website. Fun read solid 4/5, the mystery ended up being a bit disappointing in the end but I throughly enjoyed the journey getting there. I did think the romance between Bobby and Caz was kind of random and the two very detailed chapters of them fucking made my think Tad was writing with one hand under the table. I want to see more of the Wigger Garcia and Foxy Foxy, idk but for side characters they absolutely made whatever chapters they were in. Would recommend if you're looking for something short to break up a long series you're reading.

Also a bunch more shitty webnovels, really don't think it's worth continuing to dig for gold there. Dunno why it's so hard to right a 'progression fantasy' style story that doesn't suck.

Couldn't find Red Rising, but all of the other books from the series were there fully stocked lol.. Idk if people just bought it out or they didn't have any copies? Given the sixth one came out recently I would think they would have a lot of them. Then, with regard to Banks, they only had Look To Windward and Inversions, two of his more eclectic books...

Oddly enough, they had a ton of Anne Leckie books who I thought was less known than Pierce Brown??? Isn't Pierce Brown SUPER mainstream??

Also, they weirdly had a TON of Asimov's books, like his whole bibliography was there for sale.

Anyways I ended up coming away with nothing since I already ordered Anne Leckie's latest book off of amazon for myself.

They're older than humanity, and their thinking/culture is far less malleable than humanity. Despite the planet getting wiped by the suns, they are still more advanced given their age as a civilization.

He shows up only as a young boy sending a message. I don't know why you are making these questions if you haven't finished it yet.

Broken Sword inspired DnD and is better than any Tolkiendrone slop. Read that instead of media tie in novels.

This Christmas, I hope Bakkerfag finally receives the help that he needs for his severe and crippling autism.

Only help he needs is a swift kick in the ass and a swirly for being such a repulsive nerd.

It's the Bakkerschizo. He frequently edits charts made by other people to insert bakker some place high up on the chart, but not at the top, because he imagines this makes it "less obvious", when nobody but him would ever even include bakker on any kind of chart to begin with.

>> No.22867526

>>22867467
"Bakker" is actually pronounced "baker" but retards don't realise that.
Bakker is 6'4" and chews tobacco daily; he's a massive guy from the rugged wastelands of the prairie. Say one word wrong to him, and he'll have you hogtied on the back of his truck, driving straight to Simco so he can use you as mulch for his "tobaccy yields, ay," pissing on your charnel mound and spray cropping with his massive fucking mangled cock, crossed between a dagger and a big white-and-pink python

If by swirly, you mean the spin from the bore of a rifle then I do agree my fellow book reader.
