In the time those words were written people didn't care about religion, spirituality, emotions, and so, they were purely cerebral, intellectual, rational. When you read a book, you should be acquainted with the context in which it was written and which are its sources of inspiration. Else, you be making questions like this one

le God is dead and we killed him way too early in our civilization to have anything of that caliber give us meaning and value for us to bare the horrid suffering that is existence.

>> No.22775805

It means nothing. If God is dead subjectively for some culture or person because they cease to apprehend them, then it means nothing for the objective existence or non-existence of God. It can only mean that God really doesn’t exist objectively speaking, but that is never even really justified or questioned. The only interpretation you can take away that makes any sense at all is “God may or may not really exist and may or may not really be dead, but I choose to accept that God is dead either way”, which is funny because once you realize that’s the only possible interpretation you’ve now firmly entered the realm of Christian theology and apologetics given things like unquestioned free will.

The phrase is first seen in le gay science and it means that morality and tradition as we know it will collapse in the near future in the west. Christianity was attacked by many angles (eg Darwin) and even if you were atheist, you were still brought up in a Christian framework on which most of your traditions were based on. If you kill the ground on which your morals and traditions lay upon (even if you are le cringe atheist) slowly everything falls under it as the basis withers away. Prophetic words really which in hindsight couldn’t be proven more true (see 20th century mass scale atrocities and modern degen culture).

The most INTERESTING interpretation is that:
(The!) psysical god is physically dead. Our world IS getting crazier. This isn't some malaise of old age affecting our interpretation of life, nor a result of technology overwhelming the mind, or whatever else. It's a direct consequence of God being Dead, our simulated reality is going haywire as it breaks down without any maintaining entity. That's why people are acting so strange. The number of souls in bodies is lower than ever. With nobody to stick the souls in, the last generation has mostly comprised true automatons of meat, without any divine spark to speak of. This is also the cause of global warming and other weather shit. Nobody knows what comes next, but we should be very concerned indeed because God was also maintaining the afterlife.
This isn't the true interpretation, mind you. The quote is probably about the nature of society or some shit. But my idea would be more interesting if it was real.

God is not real to the modern mind. Even religious people use god as an abstraction to justify their behavior or for simple emotional comfort.

That thing that people believed in that made them act a certain way has fallen out of the zeitgeist. People don't have a belief in god in common anymore and don't behave similarly because of it.

Simply this:
>God is dead.
>We killed God.
>God knew we would do this.
>God sacrifices God's self anyhow.
>Being eternal, every moment in time coincides with God, God is forever, eternally suffering and dying for man.
>God did this for us.
>"God became man that man might become God," that we might freely partake of divine union despite our propensity for sin.
>God is love (I John). God identifies Itself in us, who are in Its image.
>This shows that God wants what is best for us. This includes freedom, the freedom to sin and to kill God.
>Yet God still lives, the negation of a negation, Absolute Spirit returning to itself.
>Through the Logos, all being progresses towards the Absolute, the union with the Divine Nature in love.

The early 20th century wasn't even particularly bad as far as % of people killed in warfare, and the second half was downright peaceful in comparison to most of history. Hunter gatherers generally have homicide rates a good deal higher than Europe from 1914-1945.

Really, morality didn't collapse the way it was predicted to. Homicide, rape, incest, etc. have fallen across the developed world and more and more of the world is developed. Homicide plunged in the US since the 70s-90s for example.

So, it turned out that, without tradition, people didn't get more violent. They continued their trend of getting less violent (Oxford in the 1340s had a murder rate twice that it Baltimore today). Rather, people have become hopeless and alienated. It turned out that it wasn't physical horrors that awaited us, but the death of enjoyment and purpose.

It's possibly worse. The Renaissance or Romantic era Germany might have been more violent and less comfortable, but they had true zeal.

>God sacrifices God's self anyhow.
If nothing is lost then nothing is sacrificed. The fact that Christ was reborn 3 days after the crucifixtion is proof of this. If nothing is truly lost then the sacrifice is absent.

>> No.22776590

>>22776564
Every moment is eternally present to God so God eternally suffers the pains of scourging and crucifixion. It's not like us where our memory grows fuzzy and we forget about things. For God, the nails are being driven in every second, forever.

Re your pic, this is true idiocy. Imagine thinking a religion formed two thousand years ago was a "psyop" to let communists and "globalhomo" take control. Real long game there, creating a religion to help an ideology that wouldn't exist for two millennia.

Historically, a great many Jews converted. Jews were all around the Med in 1 AD. If they had made up a constant share of the population there would be about 200 million today. There are so few because most became Christians or Muslims.
