I don't think the difference is in terms of certainty. I read it more like this:
"It will be nice today."
>I am letting you know a fact: Today will be nice.
"It's going to be nice today."
>I am relating something to you more casually and "socially": It's gonna be nice today.

The first is more "declarative," less "relational," if that makes sense. Like the information isn't being casually given in smalltalk but is at least slightly important or desired by the listening party.

Cabbage one is brutal, the usage of the verb "use" there is not unfamiliar at all to anyone who's read older English stuff, and it makes sense when you actually think about it, since "didn't used" is grammatically equivalent to "didn't went", but colloquially it feels totally wrong - like I would think if someone intended to say "use" there instead of "used", they would pronounce it "yooze" instead of "yooce" (the "d" blending with the "t" in "to"), and I don't think I've ever heard that. If I saw it in writing I probably just assumed it was wrong the way option C is and it sounded goofy and retarded to me.

I missed the two identical meaning ones, the ones about James being lazy and Paul driving two fast, but I think those are retarded questions. Meaning is parsed differently in the brain than grammar. I don't accept the validity of those two questions.

I only got one grammar question wrong:

1. "The match was cancelled __ the rain."

I chose "because of" because it sounded more natural. Why is "because" the right answer? This is the only question I feel bad for getting wrong.

Three wrong questions knocked my score down to 100. I got 96 before because I chose "dangling modifier" instead of "misplaced modifier", which I realized is correct after a little bit more reflection.

Technically, I only accept one question as truly wrong. I am not ESL, and all of you smug and pompous jackasses can neck yourselves.

no no you misunderstood anon

it was " sisters' "

note the apostrophe. in order for a plural noun like sisters (or any noun that ends in S) to take possession of another noun the apostrophe goes after the lasts

The existence of the s' implies there is more than one sister

I scored 100 and somehow I still feel like a retard the questions about civil rights and American stuff caught me off guard because I'm not a burger but I thought the only really difficult one was the last one.

No it's not. You're just scared by the jargon. You can easily identify the correct one by understanding that the clause about garments is misplaced and figure it out. Geez I thought this board was high-IQ.

English is my second language and I remember jack shit from my English classes. What the actual fuck is this quiz? It's as if it were made to stroke the egos of English-midlings.

ESL here so I might be wrong, but I thought up some example sentences during that question and I believe "so as to" requires a verb before it
So if the sentence was something like "His remarks were made so as to annoy everybody at the meeting" it would be valid

When you learn in school you tend to speak more formally than most natives. I get made fun of for speaking proper Spanish to Spanish speakers.
