Hello there ladies and gentlemen. I've heard that books are like training equipment. The ones that have a lot of books at home don't ever read them. The ones that do read a lot go to the library.

Is that true?

Well, I go to the library and I only have the one little bookshelf and I read a lot, so maybe?

A book shelf with course litterature and dictionaries doesn't really count.

No it isn't. How retarded are you?

Basically, yes. People that read a lot - a lot - figure out pretty quick that their hobby will cost them a fortune and go to the library instead. Especially when starting at a young age, there's just no money to buy the masses of books needed to satisfy the hunger, and later it has already become a habit.
However, there are of course people that can afford to buy everything they want and that also have the means to dedicate whole rooms in their houses to bookshelves. IHowever, it often is merely a display, since you read a lot and need new stuff instead of wasting your time re-reading all those books.

got about 500 books in my flat (many unread)

sporadically voracious reader. will do nothing but read for weks/months, then not settle to a book for weeks/motnhs after.

use library regularly, though less as I get older. have books to read at home and also am increasingly finding that the books i want aren't available at the library.

I buy all my books second hand. I limit myself to $20 a week average to buy books. Between second hand book shops and op shops I am able to fill my reading schedule - between 2 and 5 books a week.

But still, my book shelf is pathetic. I give away all my good books to friends in a flurry of drunken enthusiasm. So all that is left is the pulp.

I have an ass load of books at my house, but I also go to the library fairly often. The books I borrow are ones that I haven't read yet, the ones at home are my favorites.

The only exception is that I will occasionally just buy a book in a series I'm reading, if I like the series enough.

Also I pirate a lot of them.
