Why is internet the new trendy philosophy after faux-Nietzscheanism? It seems like all people who get their philosophy from bite-sized YT vids (as contradictory and antithetical to philosophy as it is), almost always fall in the camp of stoicism and absurdism. What makes it so attractive to the average normie who doesn't engage with philosophy outside that?

Stoicism is marketed as "practical philosophy" which makes it popular.
Absurdism makes you look "cool" because nowadays believing in a purpose makes you seem naive and old-fashioned. Also because a lot of people read Camus in high school.

I know this is a low-effort basic answer but that's basically all there is to it. I don't even think either philosophy is irredeemably bad btw

"Embrace the absurd" is a fun chunk of three words that sounds deep or something and you don't have to really get it, also take basic mindfulness techniques and package it as "stoicism" to seem different and smart
