>You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

If you literally follow this you won't last long in this world. So how tf has the Church lasted 2000 years?

because it's meant for the plebshits and to keep them herded through moral terror, not for those in charge, certainly not for the barbarian aristocracy that the church had to slowly bend to her services to further spread the christian slave system

Leviticus 24:20 is Old Testament not New Testament so it's closer to 3000 years old.

"You should always clean your hands after you use the toilet" goes out the window if you're pissing and the fire alarm goes off.
That doesn't invalidate it as a good habit.

>Leo was a Roman aristocrat, and was the first pope to have been called "the Great". He is perhaps best known for having met Attila the Hun in 452 and persuaded him to turn back from his invasion of Italy.
Not totally right in specifics but yeah the most powerful empire in the world, with no human rights, couldn't kill a religion adhered to by mostly poor illiterates and neither could the USSR. The early Church destroyed the pagan idols, devil worship, and otherwise via miracles, pray, charity, wit, and martyrdom. Christianity is a historical absurdity at worst and a miracle most accurately.

No, I'm not jealous of them. Just realistic. More people here could do with being realistic, instead of envious or hateful.

What a reductive picture of religion. People followed Jesus because his teachings resonated with him, not because they lived in fear. Most of the preachings of Jesus which are actually in the gospels are moral parables. Although he speaks of his own authority, sermons are traditionally conducted with the purpose of leading followers to see the validity of the Christian ethical system. The actions of the early church immediately contradict this idea of “following a cult leader” when you read about how Paul explicitly talks about how the gospel applies to both Jews and Gentiles, meaning one does not have to uproot themselves with circumcision or other ascetic or highly disruptive practices in order to follow the teachings of Jesus. The whole point of the missionary journeys to Rome, Thessalonica, Ephesus, etc. were meant to bring the teachings to the people, not the other way around. Not to mention people followed Jesus around not because he simply forced him to, but of their own volition, so much so that it even became a problem for him because all the attention attracted the Roman authorities in Judaea.

1. Rome absolutely had a concept of human rights and persecuted Christians only reluctantly, locally, and inconsistently. In Pliny's correspondence with Trajan about this, he emphasizes his reluctance to execute anyone and that he gives them multiple chance to symbolically recant and return to their lives.
2. Christianity was favored by educated urban elites. The word pagan literally means "rural".

Yes, that dude is pulling your leg. Mormonism is a giant game of smoke and mirrors disguising a crypto-Gnostic Freemasonry knockoff, which itself disguises a corporate investment scheme. Anyone who thinks there's actual substance to its theology or doctrine is getting fleeced and will soon either find the truth and leave or doublethink their way out of it.
There's a lot of secrets and fucked up shit in Mormonism but nothing mystical or supernatural or divine.

>reluctance to execute anyone
>they could just recant
It is meaningless how the emperor "felt" which assumes a letter is his internal feelings and not political calculus. You do understand that if they were truly reluctant they wouldn't have had any executions right? You use the word reluctant incorrectly but not execution and thus the seeming correctness masking the inner contradiction that beleagers anyone who goes against the Catholic Church.
