I want to conduct a survey of sorts.

What do you /lit/erati use for bookmarks? People have gotten me fancy metal bookmarks with Chinese symbols on them, but typically I resort to using a square of paper.

Usually I use this little product care glossy card for a metal works line, sometimes other slips of paper, receipts, but rarely for the whole book.

I did find a blue Ki'i Pohaku petroglyph bookmark that I'm using for The Odyssey. It fits perfectly with the story.

Since I mostly read scifi/fantasy this presents me with a problem. The niched stores that sell them are mostly known for catering to my country's emo anime fan scene.

Oh wth nobody respects scifi/fantasy anyways and with such godawful cover art who can blame them...

Now that's an interesting point; I have spent like $3k on books in the last two years building a collection of classics, and I intend to pass them on to my kids and grandkids because that'd be cool.

Growing up, I came into possession of many books in this exact fashion, mostly from my grandmother (who enjoys literature as I do). Many of those were themselves dog-eared and well-used, and this only added to their charm in the eyes of a younger me.

If I stopped reading in the end of a chapter, I remember the number of the page or the chapter. If I stopped reading in the middle of a chapter, I just put a random piece of paper.

In the beggining of the year I found inside the first Harry Potter bookmarker that I made when I was 11 years old or something, I started using it to mark the pages, but I stopped reading A Song and Ice And Fire, and, since I wanto to return, I let the bookmark in the page I stopped reading.
