>trudging through Walmart with my friend, who is getting LED lights for his car
>having to dodge the aggressive but zombie-like and overweight consumer FIENDS who roam the isles passionately searching for the next inexpensive but useless item to consume and waste, an intellectual thought or inquiry never gracing their dwarf-sized intellect
>realize that everyone is in denial of the fact that our once-great nation is in shambles, our ecosystem is perpetually being disgraced and ravaged by greedy corporations and the greedy fucks who run them, and nothing, not even their mega-church plastic fucking moral system will save us
>a feeling of depression burns deeply, penetrating the most minute atom that composes my body, this depression being distinctly different from some romantic teen angst; No, this is an actual feeling of despair, an overwhelming feeling of malaise, a feeling of being overpowered in shadows by an unstoppable entity, the fallacy of man and his biggest downfalls eating away at my soul

Sorry bro, that's just your nostalgia talking. We haven't gone downhill because we can't sink any further; everything has always been shit.

What I find more depressing still, not being OP, is the US, with its non-cities, its plain rectangular inner city houses and suburban wooden hovels, its complete physical lack of anything beautiful, and the horrifying fact that it is like this even in Europe, with the post-WWII buildings not being able to compose a city, satisfied instead with the endless crowding of suburbs where demeaningly dressed people forward their greed and violence without restraint or council.

Pretty good description of the UK if you ask me.

They have walmarts outside of the US?

you're showing your lack of knowledge of world and US history..while saying the country was once great is a subjective opinion, I'm sure most current historians/analysts/whatever would agree that the state we're in is due to the US seeking global hegemony post-WWII and countless other factors have contributed to the US's downfall

you were probably one of the people in Walmart last night browsing the mass-market Koontz novels

Just because you have a loose grasp on high-school level existentialism, does not make you better, or even smarter then those people.

Exactly my thoughts. The depressing thing is that OP's story fits any 'civilized' country (but especially the US, >>2246232 and not just because of the Walmarts).

not existentialism, just not happy with the current state of our society. I'm guessing you never question/criticize things you are presented with that are societal norms? Because for some reason you are getting pretty judgmental over my hungover societal rants and are attacking me instead of attacking my points, insulting me and calling me a high-school existentialist.

Do you joke with your buddies about how Occupy Wall Street is "a bunch of smelly, lazy hippies"?

>> No.2246255

I bet all the other people at walmart were saying the same thing about you OP.

I've learned to accept what society considers acceptable. I'm okay with people not walking around with things like fine art or the state of the ecosystem on their minds. Grow up, it doesn't affect you.

do you also think human-caused climate damage is a myth? if the climate drastically changes, we are all fucked, and it would be nice if we prevented that.

And the point I am trying to point out is that what you call "rampant" actually doesn't affect you in any way, that is other then helping your local economy by providing an impossible number of jobs to your senior citizens/disabled/general unemployed.
