I really envy you and classical education in general. It's actually an elective continuing studies course that's going to cost me $2k by the end of it.

Used to be that "Latin is for boys, Greek is for men," now you're lucky to even find bilinguals in universities. Better late than never, I guess.

Tried to get Pale Blue Dot too, but I think it may not be available in the UK. Oh well, my birthday is in a couple days and I will probably be getting some money for it.

'The War of the Worlds' and 'Dubliners' will tide me over until Christmas, when I'll receive a few books from my dad (one or two from a list I gave him* and a couple of his own picks).

*list containing: 'Pierre: or, The Ambiguities', 'The Complete Cosmicomics', 'The Lost Estate', 'No Longer Human' and 'Consider the Lobster'.

For Christmas buys, I'm probably going to have to find some things that are likely to be available at Barnes & Noble. My local one is pretty small.

Got no internet back home so I'm literally ordering everything I want this year:
Lolita by Nabokov (read half of it a year ago but exams and then holidays got in the way)
Gravity's Rainbow (the edition in the uni library is ancient so I'm going to get my own)
Norwegian Wood by Murakami (always wanted to read it)
Ficciones by Borges (not in the library)
and probably either/both of Mason and Dixon and The Old Man and the Sea

Prolly gonna order a fuckload of Dover Thrift editions and use the library.. although I'm worried about having an imbalanced number of Dover books in my collection :;3

word, fuck other publishers, I'm paying for the text not a pretty cover and, like you said, some prologue and afterword written by a douchey professor with info I can get online
