It's not his beliefs, it's his condescending attitude and reddited smugness that annoy me. Plus, it's just the way he talks about... everything. He's objectively not a bad author and arguably along with James Dashner was the only good YA author, but he just rubs me in all the wrong ways.

I swear on my mother's life and to Christ that I saw it. green was young in it, maybe mid 20s. he was sitting in a swivel chair with his back to his desk. lamplight from the desk. he keeps on saying faggot and "you wanna cyber?" as he's telling the story. and I remember the op whining in the video description about how he wasn't just a john green time machine and he had other videos on his channel too. green might've gotten the guy to take the video down, I don't know who would have that vid if not one of his friends

This is another issue I have with the dude. He has this GROSSLY inflated view of his importance that is embarrassing. He really acts like being one of the only half-decent YA authors back in the day and hosting a couple woke youtube series aimed at kids makes him the arbiter of all things good in the world. It's a lot like Bono in that it isn't necessarily the things he supports or talks about that are bad, and are very often really good things, i.e his charity work. But he just inserts himself and places his take on the subject above everything else. The tweet below is him responding to some random school district in bumfuck Indiana that took out one of his books.
