He’s right you know…

Yeah, he's right. It's a pretty stupid misinterpretation of Egoism. Ayn Rand only got any publicity because she was a funny rare anti-communist jew on a congress meeting.

You should read every book as if you completely agree with it, take it as a revelation, let it wash over you. Otherwise you get nothing out of it. You can critique it afterwards.

Noooo.... Sinclair... you're doomed against those Minbari warships... pull away, they're too powerful. "I'm taking you bastards with me, prepare ramming speed!" Oh God. Sinclair, don't do it. I'm completely immersed in this novel right now, but little do I know that he's actually possessed with the soul of Valen, a Minbari hero who led them to victory 1,000 years ago against the Shadows.

I don’t even really like Rand but then I look at your average anarcho-communist and start to feel sorry for her

Literally what is there to hate about Ayn Rand's Philosophy? If im not mistaken her entire sentiment is basically "greed is good, desire is good, If you want it you must take the action to make it real. You must do whatever it takes to see it through and live your dream." How the fuck can you argue against that?

>> No.22301978

>>22301963
She implies that it's the best way for the society. Saying that being greedy and selfish makes everyone's lives better is retarded. She doesn't make a moral argument, just an utilitarian one.

>> No.22301982

the titles of her books are pretty great, and the art deco style associated with them is pretty cool.

You have never read Rand.

In fact, in Atlas Shrugged she calls out the utilitarian defense of free market capitaism:

>I could say to you that I have done more good for my fellow men that you can ever hope to accomplish - but I will not say it, because I do not seek the good of others as a sanction for my right to exist, nor do I recognize the good of others as a sanction for my right to exist, not do I recognize the good of others as a justification for their seizure of my property or their destruction of my life. I will not say that the good of others was the purpose of my work - my own good was my purpose, and I despise the man who surrenders his.

General economic prosperity for her might be the consequence of capitalism, but is not its moral justification.

Alright, so the vibe im getting from this statement here is that her views don't align with communistic taste.

Never read Ayn Rand or completely sure what Objectivism is but here it kind of seems like she's trying to say "I don't give a fuck about anybody else, I did what i wanted and if anybody else seems to prosper from it or gain anything from it then thats on them, i don't care. I just hate faggots who are too weak to realize their own potential and give up their desires."
This is pretty much what every revolutionary or leader has done to elevate their people or create some kind of change. The morality in which she portrays this is questionable but regardless of her reasonings for prospering and others gaining for it doesn't matter because it lifts others regardless. Only faggots begging for hand outs and rotting away not realizing their potential and being lazy can possibly argue against this.

I read "Anthem" when I was 16 and thought it was the greatest work in all of literature, I was also a hardcore atheist.

At age 28, I now believe scarcity to be a spook and that souls and God exist.
