What are some stories that will make me kinder? I've been reading a bunch of horror/fantasy/fiction stuff lately, tender is the flesh made me feel really uncomfortable with myself and I think changed my brain chemistry and ways i can't comprehend just yet. A country doctor's notebook was just straight up good, it paints a realistic picture of the main character feeling like he's not enough but still managing to persevere through sheer willpower alone, I've been reading a bit of Pratchett because hes witty and makes me laugh, and Fahrenheit 451 I feel kinda taught me a lesson I was supposed to learn in high school about the importance of having a real dialogue and also immolating government workers who try to enter your home

I guess I'm really asking what's something you've read that you've taken a lesson from. What stories made you or made you want to be a better person?

Sorry I don't have any board related images so have a photo of my dog instead

I don't know, I almost wrote a post that would maybe turn you into a neurotic person, so I have no idea.

Kinder? It's only a matter of time when your kindness will turn into hatred, which is the only relevant reaction to society. Today the bus driver didn't stop to pick me up with my bike, I had a flat tire and had to walk home for 2 hours. He could easily stop, let me in, and take me to my place. But he just turned a blind eye on me and drove off. I absolutely hate the entire humanity, my heart and soul are insatiably hungry for any news of disaster, fatal accidents, suffering and evil that destroy people's lives. These news make me feel pleased. I pray and summon all the demons, evil forces, epidemies, wars, disasters to unleash hell upon every human being. I hate people, they deserve everything that happens to them. I wish that the earth core cracks and boiling lava covers entire planet burning these evil creatures to ashes. I wish plague makes all the people rot alive. I honestly believe the hell exists and all the people will suffers there forever and ever. Saint Hitler, thank you for killing millions, for starving them and gasing them in chambers, for burying them alive and using them in deadly experiments, I hope you reside next to Holy Satan, enjoying the screams of tortured souls. Saint Inquisition, thank you for burning millions of people alive, thank you for torturing them in the most painful and horrible ways. Demons, please come and enslave this rotten humanity, drag every soul to hell and burn them all forever and ever

I have no idea what this schizo is on about but his first sentence is unironically correct. OP, the more kindness you try to project, the more hatred you will have when your efforts aren't acknowledged. Kindness and hatred go together hand in hand. Better to nonjudgementally observe that you're not such a good person rather than try and bend yourself into an unnatural mould of 'goodness'. Tao te Ching is a very short but relevant read

Most humans are worthless, selfish, and greedy, but that fact does not necessitate that you treat everyone else with derision. Kindness is recognizing that no one actually deserves it, but you still do it to reinforce the power of your consciousness over your basal instincts. It is natural to act in your own self interests, and to expect reciprocity for good actions, but actually doing so would make you just as repugnant as most humans.

If I am going to die regardless of my actions, I would rather act on principles rather than desires that maximize the meaningless.
