I've read Sun and Steel and The Sailor who fell from Grace with the Sea, but how should I continue? Would Confessions of a Mask be a logical next step, or should I start with his Sea of Fertility Tetralogy. Or maybe The Temple of the Golden Pavilion? I will probably end up reading all of these but I'm stuck as to where to go next.

Confessions of a mask is a thinly veiled biography and it goes into all of his weird death and sex shit, so definitely that one.

Why do many homosexuals have an obsession with masochism and self-destruction?

What's the best Mishima biography? I like picrel because of the provocative title but it's written by a foreigner.

I've read about half of Mishima's (translated) works so far and Patriotism is the best and hardest hitting. Definitely recommend this one.

i always wonder about mrs. mishima when i think of everything surrounding his suicide. even if she didn't read patriotism herself she certainly knew what it was about.
