A comedy is something with a happy ending, as opposed to a tragedy that has a sad ending, or a tragi-comedy that has both.

Are you sure you read the Divine Comedy by Dante?

It's insane how this book is what religious people think hell is like. It's basically a really well written schizo fanfiction, but it has become the de facto version of Christian hell for all media that came after

>> No.22245028

The fact that he influenced the perception and idealized vision of an entire religion and prestigious as Christianity is pretty fucking insane. The Bible is the greatest story ever written imo and the fact that he had such a huge impact on the way people interpret it puts Devine Comedy as one of the greatest stories ever written as well even thought it basically IS fanfiction.

I'm reading this right now. It's boring me to death.

I'm tired of two types of people who comments on Divine Comedy
>read only Inferno
>have not read at all
Shut up and read it all. None of the memes about his enemies in hell and friends in heaven are correct, at most its a crude and false generalization of Inferno.

It's hysterical, you just don't get it.

I seriously doubt this.

You can tell it's not true even if you've only read Inferno. He puts his teacher whom he respects in hell, same with famous philosophers and poets. Even his beloved Virgil.
