just finished the book of the short sun. so fucking good. god damn I love silk.
any fellow long sun/short sun lovers wish to discuss it?
remember to use spoiler boxes

so first I really wonder what exactly the situation was for horn/silk. at first I thought that it was like silk's soul had merged with pas's and abandoned his body when hyacinth died, hence the suicide attempt. think of how the soldiers and rogiglio were soulless husks when they died while dreaming. so horn's soul entered silk's body and thus it really was more horn than silk. the reason he oftentimes had silk's memories was because he had silk's physical brain.
the issue with this is that at the end remora convinced him he was silk. so what did this mean? was silk's soul always in silk's body? so what the fuck is pasilk? is that completely pas but having taken on silk's mannerisms?

I've read New Sun, but not Long Sun or Short Sun. How are they?

very fucking good. pretty different from new sun, though.
the protagonist of long sun is inherently a good person, and also not the author of the book. in a lot of ways the world itself is more "relatable" to our own, I think, too.
absolutely give them both a read if you liked new sun. I put it off for over a year and I kind of regret it.

Weirder, better, but more difficult to get into, especially as an ESL

I don't know if I'd even call it weirder, but it did feel to me a bit more comprehensive
like the world was "nearer" our own and more similar to societies which have actually existed
definitely on such a close level to botns that it's a matter of personal taste which you prefer. but unlike botns you need to read short sun right after long.

ive not read BOTNS in forever, do I need a reread to enjoy short and long sun? start with urth (never read urth either). really dont wanna reread BOTNS desu

Not really, LS/SS aren't really sequels to NS. There are connections but you can read them separately.
Urth is something you should have read right after NS though.
