Recently I have been listening to Audiobooks and I feel that it's far inferior to actually reading a book. It takes more time, is far less comprehensible compared to reading a book, a book may get ruined by the narrator, etc.

Is there some secret advantage to Audiobooks I'm not seeing?

When I'm taking my morning run, I listen to an audibook so I can cram more knowledge gaining into my day. Currently it's The Gulag Archipelago. As I work 9-5 and then 5-10 (side hustle) I have little time to sit down and read, but I can easily pack in a few hours of audiobooks and podcasts when my work isn't particularly demanding.

I only listen to audiobooks I'm half interested in while I'm at the gym, it's nice gives you time to cover some new ground

It has to be written in way that is good for "telling"
Cervantes is good at this.

They are good if you don't know how to read

Audiobooks are great for mindless activities that you've internalized to the level where you simply do them without thinking.
They're OK for driving, cycling, cleaning, cooking, laundry, walking the dog. These are the instances where I listen to audiobooks.
You can speed them up, and a set of noise canceling headphones help lots. I use a pair of Sony XM3 which have ANC.

I can't find the use for audiobooks because books I read are mostly technical books that aimed to teach about my particular field of work.
There are either no audiobooks like that or it wouldn't even make sense to try making it in audiobook format as it won't be able to convey the material properly.
Listening some fiction on the other hand is boring to me. I've tried it with several audiobooks and I was left unsatisfied.

It depends on how you use it. For things that are all concept and no data, I can get through an audiobook at 1.4-2.5x speed (I know, it's a huge range but you have to find the sweet spot), depending on how slow the reader is. Generally I use audiobooks for something I don't intend to spend much time on and to which I only need an introduction, or alternatively I use them to give me a high-speed overview of something I'm about to research in more depth. I don't need my ears to function in mundane life nearly as much as I need my eyes.

Usually I like the audiobook way more because some narrators make even shitty books somewhat compelling.
