I haven't bought a book in months, just been taking books out of these. I just ride my bike around town and anytime I see one I stop for a chance at a good book.

Mostly it's junk but you'll find classics there every now and then. Probably you'll find Shakespeare, any American author, maybe an art book or two.

Most recently I found Tortilla Flat by Steinbeck. I didn't need another book but I just finished Grapes of Wrath for the first time so I figured I outta try it. Ende duo being my favorite read of the year so far, or at least the funniest.

Then when I'm done, I just disperse the books back to the libraries so I don't hoard them in my studio. You guys ever find some good shit in these before?

i'm too paranoid someone will call the cops on me. those are basically gentrification signals for people too uptight for street art. there's just something so kareny about a little library.

70% of my bookshelf is filled with books from these.
80% is junk in there but I find at least one book each time i visit mine here. maybe i am a bit lucky because mine is directly nearby the theatre of my town. a lot of classic literature in there.

nothing says "we're rich, white, and raising the rent" like a free little library. no human being is illegal, love is love and black lives matter, btw.

Cops??? Nigga what do you mean. I've been perched outside people's houses prowling through their libraries with a headlamp on and they've only said hi
If they see some white dude pouring over books (I assume you're white) they will be disarmed.

Yea I frequent like 5 and it's really location dependent. There's one in a whole foods which always has super cool books, art pieces, films. I imagine it's because it's full of rich old people

not the high end stuff made by people with mfas from pratt. that's called infusing the neighborhood with a bohemian vibe.

fuck man. so comfy. i get a lot of them by walking, though. there's at least 1 on every block here.

sometimes it takes me a few months to get around to actually reading it, though. sometimes i also forget which box i took it from. i try to return it at least to the same general area though.

I've looked in probably like 30-40 of these things and have never one time found a book worth taking. I'm not exaggerating when I say that 100% of the books are either YA garbage or Joe Nesbo/John Grisham tier schlock.

Dude the best places to hunt these are upper middle class urban areas. Used to live in one, and had a route that would take me to 10+ of them. I have found numerous classics, antiques, and other nice things. onetime found an unopened bottle of whiskey in one.

pic rel are some of the better finds that i have made

Im going to make one for my community, its gonna be made from bamboo because we live near big forests of those, so its pretty cheap and I like how it looks. Then i'll fill it with easy to read books so kids and the neighbors may get a taste of reading, can't put stuff like Nietzsche or Evola even if i like those a lot. The town is extremely catholic and it may be counter-productive . Probably will ask for help on /diy/ because i've never worked with bamboo before. Thanks for reading my blog and if you encounter one put some based book in it. It may change somebody's life
