European here, what's the big deal with that editor?
People here and other places seem to make it into something big, I've never met or seen anyone buy a book based on an editor in my entire life.
I see some books edited with a similar polished image in some shops, but no one around me buys a book based on that and neither do I. Is there some big marketing behind this one in particular that blew it into something hyped on internet or something?

They're fine. We read them in high school and I don't judge anyone who keeps reading them because they want consistency.
They're no norton critical editions but not everyody needs those anyway
