I am an old friend of Mr. Garnder who in recent years kept tabs on him through a business colleague (The Associate) who regularly spoke with Mr. Gardner. I have it on good authority that the man formerly known as Frank "F." Garnder is no longer who he appears to be.

At some point Mr. Gardner was introduced to Buddhism and other eastern philosophies, possibly discreetly, by the Associate. Though I've known Mr. Gardner has had a long and healthy interest in eastern culture, particularly Japanese animation, this was a much more thorough discourse. What began as a dive into philosophy slowly spiraled out of control into something more sinister.

During this period the Associate educated Mr. Garnder on the concept of the demiurge (a sort of master-warden to the Earth in service of God. An entity not necessarily benevolent). I believe from the accounts I received on the matter that this is where Mr. Gardner's descent into madness began. Possibly with malicious intent from the Associate as they were the one to egg on his research in this direction.

A third party became involved (Though yet unnamed, the Associate claims they are "represented by a black sheep." Details are vague) This black sheep seems to have absorbed the tutelage responsibilities from the Associate though perhaps not formally. At any rate, the path Mr. Gardner was on at this point became acutely foul though obscured to Mr. Garnder who was by now fully committed to understanding the demiurge.

It was September of this year I spoke last with Mr. Gardner. I suggested he take a pause in his studies but to put it frankly he was unhinged. Worst yet was he left for a tour of Nepal, something I had originally encouraged months prior though I deeply regret now. He was supposed to give a series of lectures during his trip but it appears those may have been a cover (the Associate was supposed to attend but had to cancel shortly before Mr. Gardner's arrival. Neither have provided an account of the visit.) Instead of a scholarly vacation, it is my belief that this is where the incident occured.

The incident in question is where my old friend died. The man who returned from Asia is not Mr. Garnder. From what I have gathered through the Associate (He later rescinded this account and thus our correspondence has since halted) while in Nepal Mr. Gardner made "communion" with an entity he was misled into believing to be the demigure of our world. Though I have always been an enthusiast of the supernatural I have just as adamantly remained a skeptic. That was until I was told of Ambrose.

Ambrose (also known as the Witch Eater) has no theological background prior to the twentieth century. Surface level research of the name will yield several different deities from across numerous religions. None however are fit to describe what returned from Nepal. To reiterate, this is an entity with no ancient record. This is not to say it does not exist. Whether hidden through history or recently born/developed I cannot at this time say. Accounts are scarce. Speculation extraordinary.

What I was able to learn, if relevant at all to this unknown deity, was that Ambrose "explored" the Americas "very recently." Though I doubt it was in a tangible form or anywhere equivalent to the presence he has taken now (For this prior time I think satellite drone.) Nevertheless the old guard of the American Witch scene (holding continuity since its revival in the 1970s) has been completely destroyed. This is to say the association of veteran wican societies which became alerted of Ambrose's existence were wiped off the map by it (This will account for the disarary of American mystery cults at this time.) I knew people from these groups. They have ghosted me and their own families.

Returning to Mr. Gardner. It has become horrifically clear to me that he has, somehow, in some manner, become possessed by Ambrose. The YouTube channel Mr. Garnder seemingly runs (first upload dating after Nepal trip) is evidence to anyone who once knew him that this Gardner is a fraud. I myself can attest to this. The mannerisms, the behavior, the very subtle (obvious to anyone who knew the Gardner-stutter) speaking pattern, even the monotone voice (once full of excitement and cheekiness) are all utterly incorrect to the original Mr. Garnder's personality. When the man in the YouTube videos speak it is not Mr. Garder. It is something else wearing my old friend's face.

Furthermore on the illegitimacy of the YouTube channel, many and more could tell you of Mr. Gardner's love for conspiracy theories. In high school we collaborated on several projects that looked into popular conspiracy theories and how they might have credence. He had even continued writing essays after school on other more obscure theories and some I believe he fabricated in the interest of telling a good story (Some of these would serve as the basis of the books he would later write). The caricature in the YouTube videos are a mockery of Mr. Garnder. An exaggeration. A part of me believes there to be one thing genuine about the videos. In suspecting everything to be fake, I half wonder if that is Ambrose speaking and doubting the world around him that he has invaded.

When the next book by "Mr. Gardner" is released we must consider the following. If it reads unlike Mr. Gardner's previous works then we know him to be a fraud (Mr. Gardner isn't the best writer in the world but his style is distinct). If they do read similarly we must either consider these to be trunk novels or that Ambrose has successfully adapted to Mr. Gardner's style (We cannot accept this as evidence to the contrary. That simply cannot be the case.) If no books should ever come again I will consider this the most damning turn. I suspect abrupt personality changes to follow in the near future.

This is where my findings of what has transpired ends and where my warning to you begins. If not a warning regard this as advisory to proceed with caution (You must.)

I believe that the Associate was involved in what happened to Mr. Garnder. I believe they were working with the black sheep and together allowed Ambrose to take possession of Mr. Gardner's body. This suggests an organization behind these events. I honestly do not know what else I can do on the matter and that makes me feel sick with guilt. Sick with the sense of uselessness (What am I to do? Tell the police that the man rambling on the internet is actually a demon?)

I also believe this organization is aware I know this much. I fear they will suspect I know more than I already do which gives me a queasy feeling like I am in danger. Perhaps I am. Perhaps for writing this. Perhaps you are too for reading this. That's why, and I understand if you do not wish to act as if you have read this email, ask you to weigh this matter in your own hands and look for the truth yourself.
