Why do so many men only write/read fantasy and scifi? It's absolutely juvenile. Of course, women are obsessed with YA romance, for horny reasons. But I don't understand why scifi/fantasy in particular is snatching away young writers. Is it just Unga bunga action?

I don't think there's much of a writers community here aside from people that write about town life or something frivolous like YA romance. I do know someone who writes for the local newspaper who happens to have autism like I do.

I used to write books for a living.

Just wrote at home and mailed my stuff in.

Didn't hang out or socialize with writers or anything.

Was living in the ghetto really for most of my writing career.

Lot of murder and gun violence over drugs all the time, saw lots of murder.

You are just outside and you saw someone killed their corpse the in the street.

You walk outside into the alleyways and there are spent empty bullet shells on the ground.

But you know I was making an honest living writing books and made it out of the hood.

Moved back down South and moved out into the woods of Appalachia.

Very peaceful, wrote a couple books with all that sunlight and surrounded by trees and grass and just peace and quiet out in the country. Have had plenty of strange experiences. Stabbed in throat, life threatened with guns, have fended off several home invasions, have seen both criminals and police shoot and kill people, nearly got blasted by the National Guard. Just lots of extreme violence, none of that really goes into my writing, I was writing about economics.

I was writing a sci fi novel but a fellow author ran with my ideas and finished their own version before me. They made it about Chinese communism for some reason, my name isn't on it thankfully. Communism is a godless ideology that leads to Christian genocide. Christianity is not a problem in Taiwan. Not sure if I will finish my version honestly.

Right now, honestly, the only serious writing I do is on this website, and I haven't been writing any books lately. I've got a job and am just trying to get by and overthrow the government.

It could be a pretty /lit/ place if they embraced the nautical stuff more desu.

People escape because the contemporary life is a mess of worthless abstractions and false promises. What grand revelation am I to glean from reading post-modern literature? Even when it comes to ancient lit, the only good stuff is found in epics, poetry, and historical pieces. There’s nothing to learn until we each shuffle off the mortal coil and meet God. Philosophical study is a waste of time. Let me have fun and read my shitty entertainment in peace.
