I read the first third of serotonin today (my first Houellebecq) and holy shit he’s fucking hilarious. There are some definite feels moments but he’s very deft with his handling with them so that they run parallel to experiences which you may have had without imposing a rigid structure from the novel to dominate them. Both the feels and funny moments are like references to jokes I’ve though or feels I’ve had. His hand is so light that you almost forget it’s there. Is he as funny and sad in French?
