Fuck me, bros, I feel like there's not enough time to do anything. I have to work full time to provide for my wife, and I'm studying beside, so I never have a fucking hour to read or write anything. I have a dozen half finished short stories and poems in the back of my mind all the time, and my external hard drive is full of almost 400 GB of Bibliotheca Alexandrina that I'm never gonna scratch the surface of. Do I just come to terms with the fact that I'll never publish anything worthwhile and I'll just continue dreaming until my unhealthy living og poor mental health leads to a sudden and unexpected death people will only suspect might have been intentional? How do you cope with your /lit/ dreams never coming true?

It’s a matter of priorities. Obviously your wife, financial stability, and subject of study are more important to you than publishing. We have limited time and energy and must pick our battles or else we get burned out. You need to come to terms with the fact that you will have to give up certain things while other more important things take up your time - nobody can do everything. But circumstances eventually change and you might not be in this situation forever. I would dedicate your energy to your wife and your education with fullness and focus in the meantime, since this will help your overall mental health. Don’t worry so much about writing and publishing right now; there will be plenty of time for that later.

If you absolutely must write to feel like you’re improving/not going rusty, try journaling or writing poetry. I did this a few years ago when I was going to school and working full time, and it helped me tremendously.

Check your screen time.

Wake up an hour earlier pussy, take a cold shower, sit down and write long hand stream of consciousness. Do this every day. Then go spend time by yourself at least once a week. You can find time. Always be grateful. You have all these ideas because you are blocked and bored. Once you have enough free time you will cease to feel ‘inspired.’ Then the work begins. Good luck.

Find an hour daily. Work for a month. Then take a good hard look at your schedule and find a second hour. Etc. some adjustments are small (get up earlier). Some are big (change career path). It is not easy. Some people seem to work it seamlessly into their existing life but for many it is a lifestyle. I don’t see people as much as I used to, I changed career paths to free up more time, I have a very understanding spouse but we fight about it about once a month.

why doesn't your wife work and help you out?

Use the little free time you have to read and write. Tell your wife that it's your dream so she doesnt get mad at the lack attention. Also, i hope that what you study is kind of related to what you want to write. You could change your career eventually.
