Light features were probably more common around the Zagros range in ancient times, but they didn't autosomally cluster near Europeans. Only a few genes select for eye and hair color.
For example, the Peki'in cave samples overwhelmingly had blue eyes: "57% of its ancestry from groups related to those of the local Levant Neolithic, ~26% from groups related to those of the Anatolian Neolithic, and ~17% from groups related to those of the Iran Chalcolithic." They had no steppe admixture and did not cluster near Europeans on PCA autosomal DNA plots. They were also overwhelmingly T-CTS2214, which is weird.

Saying they were "whiter" doesn't make sense. Saying they had a greater prevalence of light features makes sense though.
Also, the loss of light features is not necessarily a consequence of miscegenation either. It could simply be due to sexual selection or epigenetics. For example, many parts of the region were deforested.

White is a muddy, nebulous term. Most of the time it's used to refer to Europeans as a race. If you're going to redefine white to just mean degree of light features, then that's fine, but it doesn't mean white people racially cluster.
