Unironically not a bad idea, but they should all be these Popular Penguins. Looks ridiculous to have those clothbound ones in there. They would need to be cheap too, which is probably never happening.

I would put into it whatever would sell for the market. I wouldnt fuck myself financially to make a point about quality.
If its in some black neighborhood, Id put lists of lawyers and books and arrest and rights.
If it was in a mall, I'd but NOW ON TV shit like ASOIAF, Dune, LOTR and then a bunch of manga.
The only setting where legitimate works could be possibly sold would be a college or school. There I would put Fountainhead, Life for sale, 1984, Brave new World, probably a book on finance and some manga shit.

The reason that it makes business sense to just stock what will sell, is exactly why it wont be worth going to.

No, there's a small elevator that brings the bin to the level of the book, drops it inside and then brings it down. I've seen these machines woth normal candyass products

Yeah, marketing execs missed out on taking the good idea to its conclusion. Uniform look would make the thing catch the eye a lot more, and considering the book gets dropped from like 3 feet up, I'd feel a lot better if it's a little all-paper book I paid 3 bucks for, rather than a big-ass brick that costs 15 bucks.

On paper, it's not a bad idea. The smaller selection may push someone to read something he wouldn't have read otherwise, and discover a new talented author. But considering all authors lately have been iredeemably shit the idea falls down.

we’ve had these for years and the books are the correct size

it’s true that there is rarely anything i’m interested in, because the collection is so small. but on the other hand i check them regularly when i walk by one so it gets much more traffic than a normal book store.

I didn't think pocket books would make such an appropriate comeback. Easily my favorite format for travel and innawoods, although mass market paperback pulp is gentler on the old o-ring. I wiped my ass across the country while reading through a Chriton novel and shedding weight along the way.

The machines that drop are still much more widespread for the simple reason that they are cheaper to purchase and maintain, and can take more abuse from Seasoning Americans who would rather get their sodie pop for free.

>> No.21835633

It's a great idea but not too viable with so many negros about, they'll steal anything (they don't even read what they steal). Also the options will all be shit. But the idea of a book vending machine is an interesting one and they're ideal in airports and potentially hotels.
