Maybe if you're reading some convoluted philosophy or Pynchon, yes, but with regular novels it means you're stuck on the same book for 1-2 months.

ALR should I raise it to 20-30 pages?

>> No.21798190

>>21798154
Go at your own pace, if you can only manage 10 pages a day that's fine. Keep up the habit and the number of pages will go up by itself, and you'll find yourself more eager to read.

>> No.21798191

If you're actually absorbing the information in those pages and keeping to a schedule, sure. You'll get better over time. Quality over quantity.

>> No.21798195

>>21798154
If 10 is all you can do, that is fine. Ideally, you should be reading 40-50 a day at minimum of whatever you like. Your brain will get used to it, and eventually you will be devouring books one after the other.

The important thing is to be consistent.
Its better to read for one hour daily then to read 8 hours during weekends. Sure you're getting an extra hour technically, but reflection is as important as reading itself, and you missed on 5 days of that, plus prolonged reading sessions lead to the loss of concentration and comprehension

>> No.21798202

>>21798190
I can manage more than 10 pages. I set up the schedule before though, if that makes sense.

>> No.21798205

>>21798154
Okay for dense books.
For slop 50 pages a day seems doable.

>>21798189
Set it as high as you have time, but not so high that you can't meet it.

>> No.21798211

>>21798195
I plan to raise it to 30.

I will raise it to 30 then.

Make sure you can meet it. Consistency is the important thing.

>>21798220
I can probably meet it. If I can't I'll lower it to 20.

Don't go by pages, go by time. Try to read for at least 30 minutes a day.

>> No.21798232

If you're going to be schedule-driven then why set a number of pages as goal, instead of allocating a period of time for reading

I'd like that, but honestly I doubt I'd do it. Also if I'm reading something like GR (Which I'm reading at the moment) it would be possible.

I read for about 2 hours a day and it depends on what I'm reading
I can read Harry Potter or ASOIAF for about 100-150 pages a day but for others I might be lucky to get 30 pages

>> No.21798706

>>21798154
Depends on your schedule, how much you want to read, and what you’re reading. It’s not good to go overboard and burn yourself out. It’s also not good to read one page a day and never finish reading anything.

>> No.21798726

>>21798700
Nta but I just googled a random harry potter page and it took me just under 60 seconds (timed) to read it at a speaking pace. If you can understand people talking you can read a simple book at that pace

Have you read George's writing or JK Rowling's?
You can read them very quickly if you're able to clear your mind of thoughts

I read 150 pages last night while lying down in bed, and that was after reading 100 pages of stuff for school. You've gotta bump those numbers up, anon. The people saying "any amount is good" aren't wrong, but they're also coping. You're not going to get through very many books at that pace
