Can someone explain to me why this keeps being shilled? I picked it up on amazon out of curiosity and read the first few stories and they're alright. But I hear people talk about them like they're the next big thing when most of them are generic trash. Waste of 10 bucks.

It's mostly retarded shillbot discord trannies (yes - literal trannies) but one of the stories is okay, I forgot which one. PKD vibes. Even a broken clock etc...

The people shilling it come from Discord and they’re hyping each other up. It’s not that original to do so anyway; every wine mum trying to be an author artificially tries to blow up their circle’s books on Litopia or Goodreads.
I just wish these people had more self-awareness, really, considering they want to be public figures as artists/authors. But I guess the stupid do not know they are stupid.

It's rough but it's not much worse than the pulp they were cranking out in lovecraft's time. B+ for effort

This. Clear display of the Dunning–Kruger effect.

On the one hand all the constant talking about it does get tiresome. on the other i appreciate actual literary output from this board, much like i appreciate &amp. i did check out a free pdf or something of this book (the one with the spooky tales) and i quite enjoyed them.

this. People forget how bad most of those stories actually were.

Where are you hearing they are the next big thing? Even the publishers have been on here saying that it is a small effort that just makes enough to cover advertising and publishing costs. Its an honest effort to make a community driven weird fiction magazine. Thats it. I hope they keep at it and get a big enough following to start getting better quality submissions.

I dont think people forget. It is literally called pulp because of the cheap pulp paper they were printed on. They are the most stereotypical cheap fiction you can think of

Shame about your experience with the stories, we’re improving the quality of our output with every release. I do rate a few of those stories particularly highly. Ironically we’ve had two releases with really good stories they just don’t get the same level of attention. The hard work, in addition to improving the quality of the stories within Tales, is getting people as interesting in our non pulp and non fiction output. We’ll figure it out tho. Don’t forget to submit your stories or essays to UnrealPressAndPodcast@protonme .

We uploaded a reading of Vacui to the youtube channel. Taking suggestions on any others. The HMS Mariana was a good story but the recording got lost.

le tiny pulp. probably a couple of good stories in there if you can read the print.

Can someone please tell me what the hell is up with Not My Problem? Why did the dude need to cite 16 different medical papers to tell a story about some fat guy driving in his car? It's like a research paper masquerading as a short story. I just don't understand why it exists or why you guys thought it'd be a good idea to publish it.

We let people get quirky with form. He also happened to catch me off a Borges binge so I was partial to the immersive footnotes, although, as I told him, it's not as well implemented, though i got the point.
