If western philosophy followed his path instead of Plato’s, we would’ve come a lot farther.

YOU WANT TO CHAT ABOUT PHILOSOPHY, BUT YOU USE VAGUE & SPURIOUS TERMS THAT YOU CANNOT & WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO DEFINE, AND INSIST ON USING THEM: PHILOSOPHY IS NOT FOR YOU.

>If western philosophy followed his path instead of Plato’s, we would’ve come a lot farther.
Heraclitus's ideas were used extensively by Socrates/Plato, Aristoteles, Neoplatonists and the church fathers, so they are in that sense followed by "western philosophy", whatever that means

OP here (and straight), I made this thread because according to Heidegger, Plato and Aristotle misunderstood Heraclitus (and Parmenides) and this has altered the course of western philosophy as a result. It allowed a lot of ideas to flourish that weren’t conducive to culture or productive.

Namefags are a blessing because the kind of people you don’t like are namefags among the list, but because they namefag you’re also given the choice to filter them. It’s honestly a blessing in disguise.

90% of philosophy is a homage to Plato and Aristotle, and Plato and Aristotle got Heraclitus and Parmenides wrong according to Heidegger. >>21736863

He was a proto-Nietszche or Stirner type guy. Plato took his ideas and basterdized them and mixed them with Parmenides so they were basically something entirely different. Basically read Heidegger.

I'm more inclined to believe an overweight German man 2000 years after Parmenides's death who doesn't even conversationally speak the same language group is less informed about Parmenides's real meaning than the man who almost lived contemporaneously and interacted almost directly with the man.
