Psalm 69 is one of my favourite psalms, there are many verses to chose from. To me this verse is poetic because I was homeless for a couple of years and lived on the streets of a major city. The entire time I would try and stay clean and pretend I wasn't homeless and I would wonder why despite my best efforts and faith I was stuck there and nothing was working out while everyone else had everything handed to them. Whenever I thought I had nothing left to lose, something else would be taken from me. I don't have a victim mentality and understand now what all that was all about, but at the same time going through that stuff gave this verse new meaning.

The latter half of Job has some very memorable stuff also, 1 Timothy 6:10 was the first verse of the bible that stuck with me, I've had it memorized since I first read it at 12 years old or so.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

I think Jesus said it best:
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?".

I learned a lot of valuable, hard lessons in those times. I shed a lot of social conditioning, pride, weakness etc and I wouldn't take it back. You couldn't trade all of the money in the world for the things I have learned or the experiences I have had, it's a free gift from God which I am thankful for.

that's not what I took away from that verse. In the bible there is a common theme of a righteous person looking at the world and wondering why God would allow the wicked to prosper while the righteous suffer, and to me at that time I felt that I understood sentiment. Again that verse just struck a chord within me at that time, it wasn't necessarily helpful.

What I did learn from the Bible eventually is that things are the way that they are because God made it so, and I was the root cause of my own problems and suffering the entire time. Once I learned the lessons I needed to learn, my life magically turned around for the better permanently and almost instantly.

The one thing that strikes the most is the intertextuality and typologies between the OT and the NT.

A little example of that is in Genesis 1 where a consistent theme is God controlling and shaping the "waters" as He creates the world. We then see Jesus walking on water and having full control of it in Matthew 14, Mark 6 and John 6 to the extent that He is able to subdue the waves.

You should read what St John Chrysostom had to say about the Jews in his "Adversus Judaeos"
>Hear how the prophet bit them to fast. "Sanctify a fast", he said. He did not say: "Make a parade of your fasting", but "call an assembly; gather together the ancients". But these Jews are gathering choruses of effeminates and a great rubbish heap of harlots; they drag into the synagogue the whole theater, actors and all. For there is no difference

Luke 12:48
"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."

Two things I take away from this verse:
1) Be merciful to people who make an honest mistake
2) If you have been given much in this life you are expected to give much as well.

It's more than one verse but my overall favorite Bible story is in Matthew when Peter tries to walk on the water like Jesus. He does it for a little bit but then he falls in and starts drowning. Jesus walks over to him and pulls him out of the water. When Peter asks why he fell in Jesus said it was because his faith waivered.

This shows that with enough faith we can be like Jesus and if we ever falter, he will be right there to save you.

It's mostly pushed by Muslims who hold the gold medal for the most retarded apologetics known to man. They'll quote some part of the NT where Jesus says something like "The Father is greater than I" and say look the Bible doesn't say Jesus is God and then you just ask them to read on a little bit more to see the fuller context and they'll say that the Bible is corrupt. So why are you quoting from a corrupt book to support your apologetics? It's the most schizophrenic thing I've seen.

Also they dismiss Jesus saying "Before Abraham was I AM" as a claim to deity. Genuine retardation

From Genesis 19:
[30] And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
[31] And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
[32] Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
[33] And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
[34] And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father.
[35] And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

I will be joyful in God my Saviour.

>From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” >He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Psalm 88
14 Lord, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

16 Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.

17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness.

These two I had put onto the cards for my father's memorial service.
Matthew 11:28-30
John 14:27

A few years later I talked with a preacher (customer of mine) and he gave me those two verses in the same order.
I'm not religious because I heavily dislike the Catholic church, was never confirmed or baptized or anything like it. I did attempt reading the bible a couple of times but quit. Orthodoxy and every single denomination besides Catholic seem fake and gay. It feels like every sect or branch or what have you sort of grazes the truth but doesn't actually provide anything for you. I also cannot stand the many things you REALLY should do like communion, the process of being confirmed, etc. Not sure what to do with myself. I struggle with faith more than anything, whenever I actually have prayed in my life nothing has come of it. I don't know anons. But these are my favorite verses regardless.

if u liked that John quote, you can read John and Mark, they are the best books in the Bible (coming from someone with ADHD); also read Genesis until you got bored; Ecclesiastes (may have other name or not be included in protestant Bible...) summarizes ALL of the Old Testament in case you need a tl;dr... was written by a dude after the Hebrews were wiped out (some theories, including Jewish ones, say that only the First Temple, said by David and built by Solomon, was the one that harbored the holy spirit and everything from then on until Jesus was a deception... not to get into the "rabbi business" which more likely than not is just Jews extorting/exterminating astrologers)

That is true, with so many arguments it's not worth listing.
>I also cannot stand the many things you REALLY should do like communion, the process of being confirmed, etc.
Largely depends on the priest... fortunately or unfortunately. If you would like it, you can consider yourself confirmed, witnessed by us, according to standards of the Catholic Rite by which persons were confirmed in faith from the days and blessings of St. Peter.

But I am not religious, as much as I live (almost as best I can) a life of religious value. Sexual activities are my worst vice and the hardest habit to kick. This confirmation wouldn't mean anything to me or anyone else. Church also feels alien to me, interaction with others is painful sometimes. I'll never be normal and pretending to be a normie is exhausting at best.

this is my favorite:

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth."

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
