What are the best books of short stories?
I read this and would like to check out other authors that are known for their short stories.

Hawthorne - twice told tales
Kipling - the everyman's collection and the OWC one are a good start
Poe - the everyman's collection has all 60-something of them
Melville - piazza tales
Stephen Crane - the LoA has them all I think
Hardy - Wessex Tales
Sherwood Anderson - Winesburg Ohio

Arabian nights.
There are some good books of Robert f young stories (my favorite is dandelion girl) but that might just be because there is a visual novel of it.
The eternal moment and other short stories.(the machine stops is my favorite from this)
Isaac Asimov is a good author of sci Fi short stories.

I think he's a great novella writer. Sputnik Sweetheart and After Dark are his best books. I miss the digressive slice of life descriptions in the shorter things - without them the stories are to fable-like, but his longer novels are all too self indulgent to be classics.
