Let us assume Benatar's fundamental asymmetry is true. How does Bentar and how do you rationalize not switching-off yourselves?
According to his asymmetry, in non-existence there is no pain, which is a good thing, and there is no pleasure, which is not bad. The net effect is that non-existence is a good thing.
However, in most existence, there is both pain and pleasure. The net effect is a sum of the pleasures and pain, but because Benatar states that pleasure has less weight than pain because of the same asymmetry, the net effect is bad.
Clearly non-existence is better than existence according to his logic. Carry forward this calculation to switching yourself off, and you will find that death (non-existence) is better than life (existence), meaning that you should all off yourselves.
But you don't. So how do you and how does Benatar rationalize this decision?
