This. It was approved by Tolstoy while he was still alive. It's better if you can read french.
The Oxford, paperback and hardback, has the same translation as the Everyman's Library 3-volume set.
Briggs is fine too, I guess, but I really dislike the penguin clothbound classics.

Which ever you buy you will drop it 100 pages. In a year or so you will make a thread about how you are reading a different translation now and how it is so much better, all the problems you had with it are gone and were just an fault of a translation. You will gush superlatives and use "beautiful" three times in one sentence. You will curse the anons who memed you into reading the previous translation. You might make it through 200 pages before dropping it this time. Another year, another translation. This one is never opened, it sits on the coffee table for a few months and then is placed on the shelf.
