I really enjoy Immortal Technique. Rap is not really my thing, but he has excellent lyrics. He's clearly well read and smart, and a humanitarian.

Don't know about looking up to intellectually though.

not thinking you look up to anyone just means you're unaware of what you do look up to. thus less in control and more blind. I suggest you really meditate on this.

Guy's stop bullying OP. So he like's a tasteless rapper? Who are we to say he can't do that? It would be silly, like trying to explain to a Nickleback fan that their favorite band is hated by everyone with the slightest bit of taste; they just wouldn't understand. They don't think on that level. They just live their pleb lives and don't give one care about if they like bad music made and marketed to stupid people. You might even say they live a purer existence. They are unburdened by any intellectual issues concerning the culture they choose to consume.

No serious student of philosophy would ever make such a ludicrous observation. Dawkins is a scientist who fancies himself a philosopher. He has NO formal training in the field. He's a great evolutionary biologist, no one questions that, I personally think The Selfish Gene put forth some fascinating ideas. But everyone please stop naming him a great philosopher. He has contributed nothing to the field. All he does is reiterate the arguments of the great atheists of years gone by. If one compares Dawkins to Wittgenstein, Heidegger, or even a man like Allan Bloom, one notices how pitiful Dawkin's understanding of philosophy really is.

He did a lot of quasi-filosofy tho, e.g. memetics. Prety cool idea. He also did a fine job at pointing out varius problems with beleeving stuf for no reeson (i.e. faith).

I like:
Pyrrho (seudo-name, not a famous filosofer)
Norman Swartz
Richard Dawkins
Aubrey de Grey
