Calvin on his own would be the best, but the fact is that Calvin is also Hobbes because Hobbes is a stuffed animal. This is the best literary character ever rendered, and whether you like it or not the calibre of performance is unmatched.

>he's the funniest
>he's rigorously philosophical concerning every detail of his life, yet still likes to have a good time
>constantly questioning the nature of reality through both dialectical methods, mostly with Hobbes, ans imaginative methods, literally experiencing things like duplicating himself into multiple clones, separating his good side from himself, literally entering space and also becoming a superhero
>the novels format of engrossing imagination world of 6 year old boy works on every level without fail and the entire world is actually created by Calvin all the time
>can have many days worth of fun with just a cardboard box (unlike most major characters in literature)
