What's your opinion on this, /lit/? There is a gazillion books in this series and I really like the lore but the writing is shit and the pacing is awful. Should I read on? I read 5 books and kind of gave up but I'm thinking about trying again.

Obscenely bloated. I remember reading the first & second book, and thinking it was so fucking long and stupid. I think they were both 1000 pages long; really just made me wonder why I wasn't re-reading The Lord of the Rings again.

Book 7 and 8 were really good. 9 dragged on forever but had a cool ending, 9 and 10 are supposed to be the same story, so I thought 10 would pay off the slog of 9 with stuff happening, but instead it was even more slow. I think the feminism also became more obnoxious/in your face particularly by book 10 too. I stopped reading it around page 200 as a result of nothing happening and the men all being crybabies and the women all being le epic badasses. I don't read fantasy anymore, it's a huge waste of time. Just read actual history and myth.

Pretty sure Erikson has a smoking and fat fetish.

Read on, but skip through the useless parts. Every time a character went on a long, pointless tangent that had no relevance to the story I'd skip it.

Makes me laugh that Erikson had no idea why people weren't reading the Kharkanas Trilogy. It took the "every character is a philosopher who goes on long pointless rambles" to the extreme.
