21402042 No.21402042 [Reply] [Original]

I'd like to read something similar to Gene Wolfe's Solar Cycle (including Book of the New/Long/Short Sun). As the 3 books give off different vibes, I would like for the recommendations to be separated by the book that it is similar to (ex: *insert books here* for New Sun, *insert* for Long Sun, etc).
I'm also interested in religion, thanks in advance

nigger they literally remake the universe and have cacogens (heh) going back in time with god-aliums outside of time. also, mc goes back in time, becomes also the first king, bangs his dead grandmother (before going back in time) and makes her birth his dad (after going back in time? I don't really remember how he managed that). he also dies like 100 times and the universe may or may not get reset each time.

If that’s what you thought happened your comprehension is laughably bad. They exiled him because he forged her torture and execution order to get her killed.

You arn't reading between the lines in that paragraph? Severian is just like whoops here is the excruciation orders right here somehow.

And then there is my pic related, which comes a few pages later.

I thought he sees the excruciation order, it happens, explains to her that the way the torture works is that she's going to self-harm herself to death over the span of a month, and then he leaves the knife in her room for her to kill herself?

t. read Shadow of the Torturer last year and still hasn't started Claw yet

In no particular order, just glancing over at my bookshelves:
>Vance's Lyonesse/Dying Earth
>Peake's Gormenghast + Boy in Darkness
>Miéville's Perdido Street Station
>Clark's Zothique cycle
>Holdstock's Mythago Wood chronicles
>Bujold's World of the Five Gods
>Dowling's Rynosseros chronicles
>Harrison's Viriconium chronicles
>Moorcock's Elric chronicles
>Carter's Simrana cycle
>Schweitzer's Mask Of The Sorcerer
>Dunsany's King of Elfland's Daughter, and Time and the God's saga
>Leiber's Books of Lankhmar
>Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur
>Spenser's The Faerie Queene
>Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
>Anderson's Broken Sword, and King of Ys chronicles
>Ariosto's Orlando Furioso
>Crowley's The Deep
>Tolkien's Legendarium
>Howard's Conan, Kull, and Bran Mac Morn
>Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy
>Bakker's Second Apocalypse cycle
All of those I'd consider fantasy of simlar quality to Wolfe, although your mileage may vary. They should keep you going for a while. Also, another /sffg/fag will inevitably post the shelf that saved /sffg/ ITT and almost all of that guys collection is worth reading.

this meme format is full of shits there is a fine line between accounting for things that happen in

to do with that as a spectrum.
