What classic science books would you guys say have literary merit? I have interest to read more science books having do with nature.

Have you read QED by Feynman? It's not that dense, it's short, and interesting. It's essentially the transcription of three lectures, so it's got a bit of narrative to it rather than technical math

On the Origin of Species definitely does, but then I find most writing from Victorian Britain to be pretty readable, whatever the topic.

They're not as obviously scientific in nature, but I think The Anatomy of Melancholy and Confessions of an English Opium-Eater can be considered relevant, insofar as they discuss the effects of one's state of mind, of alcohol, of laudanum, etc
