21361094 No.21361094 [Reply] [Original]

The fat bastard just claimed in an interview with Colbert to have written 1100-1200 pages and to have 400-500 more to go before it's done.
That's a lot more than I expected.

WoW is gonna be a massive 1600-1700 book, and apparently most of the storylines will end there, since Dreams will be mostly an epilogue to show what happens to the surviving characters after the Long Night. Weird but ok.

In 2023-2025 we might fucking read this goddamned book.

I honestly don't get how he'll be able to write another entire book with only the epilogues of the characters. It's supposed to be a massive one too, like 900 pages at least. Of epilogue. How incredibly anticlimatic would that be? "Yeah the big threat is over, we survived, now let's fuck around Westeros for a few hundred pages."

Most likely this. Now that his books have publicity and people depend financially on his book sales, he will most likely change the overall design.

This could explain the 11 years of literal nothingness. It could really be that he already finished all his books, but just sits there and says "fuck, if I publish this it's over for me".

There is no way in hell he isn't finished. He is an experienced writer and his books aren't even that good. It could even be that other people decide how he books should look like to maximize sales. He is literally old and childless, so it's not like he gives a fuck.

Writing a book and selling a book are two different things. If he already finished all of his books, he knows everything there is to know and what is published is literally not his problem.

It could even be that the merchandise isn't ready, so the release is on hold.

Dude, Winds of Winter is going to be shit. He's gone through that shit for years and STILL hasn't finished it. He could have hired the most hardcore of GoT fans to help him timeline and plot everything down, but he didn't. He could have hired a team of ghostwriters to help him out, but he didn't. He could have just churned out a meh quality book and then gone through it with a finely sharpened knife and ink-filled pen, to cut out whatever he didn't like and rewrite it. But guess what? He didn't. No fucking book should take this long.

Now let's say that the book IS as good as people want it to be: you won't ever get to see the end of the series. He's unfortunately likely to die before then. Then what?

This isn't even *just* meant to antagonise one of the things you're really hyped up about (which I totally respect), rather I want to hear what you think about the very real possibility that he'll die before he finishes, and the fact that he's been insanely lazy in writing it.

Man, I hope he sticks to it. I liked how most of the storylines wrapped up. I liked Arya killing the night king honestly, and Jon returning to the wall for killing Dany rather than sitting on the throne. I don't really know what the fuck everyone's problem with the show was. I feel like they just wanted Dany to be the hero, even though she had clearly been as entitled as Joffrey since the beginning if you weren't hung up on the GIRLBOSS aspect. I also feel like I remember Seth Rogen trying really hard and succeeding in convincing everyone it was bad for some reason.

No. Monarchy in the UK is hereditary and justified as the monarch being God’s representative on earth with a divine mandate. The House of Commons (members of which are chosen by public ballot) passes bills which are then sent to the House of Lords (You become a lord by inheriting the position or being an expert in a given field) to be reviewed. If the House of Lords approves the bill it is then sent to the monarch who signs the bill, making of law. Treaty-making powers and control of the army (although it is illegal to make an army without parliaments permission, so an act is passed every five years to give permission to the monarch to raise an army- the only other person with permission is a lord in Scotland who has a private army) and declaring war are invested in the monarch and most state services and representatives act in the name of the monarch. The people are far poorer than Americans and you can rent land from councils which are a local extension of the state (which is legally the same thing as the crown (monarch)) to farm on so you don’t starve.

There are restrictions on parliament to preserve human rights. These are enforced by the crown, who in turn is restricted by parliament. Parliament also restricts itself via the two chambers. Recently the House of Lords vetoed a bill over human rights concerns

This country is literally a monarchy and anyone who tries to argue its basically a democratic republic is being wilfully obtuse or is just ignorant. Before you ask, it’s great and I wouldn’t change this system much.

>> No.21370163

>>21370144
Continued.

For example
>Greens secure majority in House of Commons
>Greens want to ban “hate sites”
>Greens pass a bill banning all “hate sites” including 4chan
>House of Lords reviews the bill and how it will affect British society
>Various experts both within the house and those invited from outside it will give their opinions
>These experts could be one of you
>It becomes clear that not everyone on here browses /pol/
>Someone raises human rights concerns
>It becomes clear that the greens are being ridiculous
>House of Lords votes to veto the bill
>God save the queen plays while we all eat Yorkshire puddings and complain about continental breakfast
>Another glorious day in the United Kingdom

Btw you’re not allowed to sit in both houses, and the monarch isn’t allowed in the House of Commons. Also there used to be a rule where women weren’t allowed in the house but were allowed to peer into the house through a hole in the ceiling. This rule was removed in the 20’s. There’s also a ceremony in which the house tells the representative of the monarch to go away called “the black rod.”
