21326143 No.21326143 [Reply] [Original]

I had a panic attack today at school thinking about Fukuyama's infamous End of History article.

What if this is it? What if these are the final days of an endless future of rational, secular, liberal, parliamentary democracy and all "tension" in humanity is ever more fastidious introspection on individual identity?

Trump was supposedly supposed to be a refutation of this doctrine but he ended not changing anything. All future struggle will be sublimated into consumeristic identities constructed by mass media like "LGBT" to generate a false discourse. What if this is it? No more war, adventure, romance, poetry, or art? Just obesity and ever dwindling birth rates in developed societies until we go extinct from boredom.

Don't worry about it so much. Fukuyama is a myopic hack. His worldview led to the failed invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, demonstrating the failures of spreading neoliberal democracy. So don't worry about it so much, whatever happens next will either be slightly better or way worse.

The indomitable human spirit will prevail. Irrationality will prevail. The masculine soul will prevail over the feminine lunar spell of democracy. The brewing civilizational collapse will see primordial truth and chaos anima rise from the collective unconscious and form into a formidable maelstrom of cosmic vengeance, engulfing the ones responsible for the sterilization of History into an ocean of flames. The life-affirming spark of youthful fury and godly defiance shall light up the eye of our fellow men and women, as it did in the antiquities of yore.

Do not fall victim to the demoralization tactics of the materialists, the individualists, the capitalists, the existentialists, the ideological slaves, the rationalist planners, the reasonable heralds of future enslavement, the cold tacticians of technical supremacy, the false prophets who say "the material precedes the idea!" and wish your death to be swift, silent and meaningless. In the aftermath, humanity shall remember the true principle of struggle, we shall rejoin with the divine trophies of love and glory, and resume the metaphysical ever-ascension we have denied ourselves for centuries. This whole epoch shall be remembered as an atrocious abomination like a smear of ink onto the past horizons, a dark dominion where daemons roamed free and unfettered, an ancient apocalypse whose story will be told for ages as a mythical cautionary tale against the unleashing of Man's most nefarious tendencies.

_

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Modern democracy isn’t 4000 years old and the nazi party was less than 100 years old, history “ended” and then economics crashed, pandemic struck and new wars creating new identities and cultural aberrations and developments happened AND ARE happening. It is very human to assume one’s own lifetime is of ultimate importance and refinement, and that this is the end, but then you notice wars still happen everywhere, technology is still changing, new art productions are being made in all fields daily and the conflict of secular society with religious, and the struggle of love of the consumerist world and the rejection of it are BOTH narratives that you see daily.

No rather; the only way we are in an “end” is the way that all things are subject to transience and cyclical life, change is constant and the annihilation of that change is unchanging. Whose to say what 100 years holds for politics, culture and technology? No one could see today from a hundred years ago, why do you think anyone can see an even further 100 years ahead with all of the complexity of even more additional humans ?

ITT: people who haven’t even read the book acting like “the long boredom at the end of history” is some unprecedented modern problem.

Ecclesiastes wrote 2000 years ago that “all is vanity” and “there is nothing new under the sun”. Saint Augustine and the Catholic Church in the middle ages believed that they had reached “the senility of mankind” and that, after Christ, “the present had no earthly future; its meaning was exhausted in a waiting for the end of history through eschatological events” (quoting Eric Voegelin, 1959).

This has been the default condition of mankind for almost the entirety of human history. Chuds can’t cope with the basic facts of life, and so project their neurosis onto the world and delude themselves into thinking that people buying Funko Pops has somehow robbed life of its meaning. Sorry you weren’t born into some quixotic, destructive spasm of ideological or religious mania! Better luck in the next life, champ.

This theory is so fucking retarded. As if Neo nazis and all other types of authoritarian ideologies dont exist anymore. What happens when a clear flaw is realized in some government's institutions and one of them buys into Hitler being right? Or that resources have an uneven distribution of resources because of unforseen crisis thereby causing enough chaos for people to put a dictator into power.

Not to mention that Russia used authoritarianism to take another country's territory and will ultimately get away with it.

I am not even sure where the retardation of that theory begins and ends. Its just utterly predicated on the Jew book prophecies being real (Fukuyuma is probably a massive zionist so ofc he would) and Jews having their little rentier goyim during the reign of their messiah

Here's the way I see it. It's pretty obvious that we do indeed live in a stagnant, decadent era in history where things are mostly peaceful. Globalization ensures that most countries are cooperative and culture is being homogenized into a mass of cosmopolitanism. Guided by liberal democracy, this prevents violence from occurring since most people are forced into routine urban mediocrity.

None of this however explains why despite our relative peace and prosperity, most people are totally unsatisfied with life today. Politics are becoming polarized, resentment is flourishing, the media is utterly hysterical, institutions are becoming far more ideologically coercive, economies are faltering, and there's just pervasive incompetence among all of the elite classes. We can't pretend like everything is fine and liberalism has conclusively succeeded because liberals themselves have very little confidence. I don't understand why this is. Either our governing class is just useless or they know something that we don't, maybe in regards to resources and climate change. The only other explanation for the current mood of disappointment and chaos is boredom. In our victory we would rather destroy ourselves than see anything come after Liberalism.

The reason is very simple anon. Materialism, technological progress and individualism has destroyed the higher spiritual ambitions of mankind and has robbed us of any meaning for our lives. Most people in western countries live in unimaginable comfort standards compared to people of the past. Give a man everything he thinks he wants, he will still be miserable. The accumulation of wealth, knowledge, relationships, experiences, is not the point of life. Victory and complete dominion over the material world only brings the desire to see it all end. Wealth is the herald of death. This is why most people don't see the point in living in this soulless world focused of money and status and careers and possessions. It goes contrary to everything the human spirit stands for.

This is either the/a 'secret goal' of globohomo, or it's the/an exact thing they want to stop from happening. Yet, the only way to stop it from occurring is to successfully placate, which has proved to be extremely difficult, if not impossible so far, seeing as the subject will always refuse the aeroplane and spit the dummy if they feel the pressure starting to seriously mount. If this happens, and it fails, it won't matter because it's all failed anyway. All of these factors seem to me like a sign that it's a high likelihood occurrence: considering the level of military tech, asymmetric warfare between state and civilians is where all the exciting moments can occur. Thus, on that principle of excitement alone, that is what will happen. I predict a unification of BRICS + breakaway globogayhomo NATO government vs everyone who disagrees. The only way to stop this is to cull the population while maintaining infrastructural integrity (no nukes/large scale war.) Virus/sickness is the best way.

I'm reading the book and it just falls apart. Sure, it has solid points but only if you consider them as points, isolated from the rest of the book and its motive. At times it's really preposterous, appealing to emotions and abstract philosophical ideas such as "thymos" or "recognition". How is this guy engaged in serious political science? No, people aren't run by platonic ideas or some sense of dignity, the reason why liberal "democracy" is adopted far and wide is nothing but its industrial and cultural output. Masses in the world are bewildered and the reason why the Berlin wall fell is nothing but them wanting Michael Jackson and Coca-Cola, on all levels of society. Yeltsin went to the United States as a diplomat under Gorbachev and was impressed not with political discourse or political freedom but how stacked one of their supermarkets are. This is a brute appeal to human nature and impulses in an, as of now, spineless world. It's just that now the output is around the United States and liberal democracies, but never forget that autocratic and bourgeois France, monarchic England, briefly the Soviet Union during the Great Depression and China circa less than a decade ago were seen to be the light of the world due to their production capabilities and standard of living.

Having said that, people driven by avarice isn't something you could maintain in the long term. Everything will go to shit and fall apart but history will not end. Your great grandchildren won't have toiletpaper to wipe themselves but I can bet on history not ending any day.

Okay, which is it? Because if your idealised Alpha Male Mad Max winner-takes-all battle of all against all comes true, it will, judging from history, basically turn everyone into a slave who isn't strong enough to be part of your overcaste of heroic masculine souls. This is the condition the entire human race has been struggling to emerge from for millennia. And let me assure you, buddy, you won't be in the caste of supermen if your The Road fantasy plays out.

No, I don't believe in linear, progressive history (except in the sense that yesterday comes before today and tomorrow depends on today). I'm also not claiming the history bends towards justice or any of that shit. However, history has developed as the result of contingent, local, class struggles by groups that have something to gain in contesting the status quo, with the balance of power decided generally by the development of material factors, primarily development of technology and relations of production. A big influence on this has been the development of weapon technology. Societies with mass weapons like the pike and the musket are harder to dominate by a horse-riding nobility. The best guarantee that feudalism won't return is the existence of cheap small arms, iconically the AK47 and variants. But nothing is guaranteed, we're not advancing majestically into the utopian future without a combination of individual actions/choices and collective historical unfolding which we can never predict perfectly

Multiple civil wars, the Islamic state, the iranian dominance in its parliament, inequality of oil revenue, lack of faith in the voting system etc.. the spillover played a part in the syrian conflict.

>Almost all relevant religions have a messianic figure - whether it be the Messiah of the Jews, Jesus, the Mahdi, Saoshyant, or Kalki - who is going to appear and destroy it all. If it weren't for him, we would be doomed.
ah the holy "someone else who will do it for me", yes a common theme amongst the fucking loser.

Honestly I hate this,
this sentiment where the cause of the problem is hailed as the savior of the problem;
> Irrationality will prevail. The masculine soul will prevail over the feminine lunar spell of democracy.
>the demoralization tactics of the materialists, the individualists, the capitalists, the existentialists, the ideological slaves, the rationalist planners, the reasonable heralds of future enslavement, the cold tacticians of technical supremacy, the false prophets who say "the material precedes the idea!"

I mean, what part of the idealistic "believe whatever feels good (in the vacuum of your own brain as you die in poverty) have you equated with 'Rationality'? It's the total inverse; a rejection of material values, proofs and intelligent planning; an embrace of the completely over-emotional pathos which it itself is just a baseline state and requires nothing but irrationality.

Urgh I hate you monkey tribes.

These days the outer struggles are diminished and the inner struggles are more obvious.
If you look at it the right way, you can see that in today's environment you can dedicate yourself to the more important struggles - instead of seeking to alleviate boredom, you can seek to defeat it.
We've been having a golden era of peace, and if you can you should use it as well as you can before it runs out.

That's why Buddhism is based!
The Buddha, a mortal man, found the way - and you can, too. More than that, it will only by your own effort and persistence that you do.
Talking Theravada here.

You can point to faults - my argument would be that the era of peace and plenty has revealed our own tendencies to hurt ourselves.
We have everything - so why do we suffer? Because we create our own steady supply of suffering.
