Fiction and life are one and the same. The meaning of life is literally right there, spelled out in the mechanisms of literature. Conflict compels us to read. And it's also secretly the single driving force of the human experience. The fight for reproduction, the fight for survival, the fight for "success" (regardless of what that means for the individual). The most fulfilling possible life is one where you have created a healthy stream of conflict for yourself, reasons notwithstanding. The climb is all that matters. Too much stress and will you will become soul-crushed, overworked; too little stress and you will decay and become complacent. Ideology is a giant meme, it's the biggest smokescreen of all time, it's a cope. You can choose what's meaningful to you and what your goals are, all that matters is that there's always one more challenge to solve, and that the challenges you are solving provide pleasure and a subjective sense of fulfillment to you. If you look at the bottom of every single worldview, every political opinion, philosophical argument, etc., you will find the exact same mechanisms that go into fiction: a goal, conflict, and antagonistic forces preventing you from reaching that goal. Because fiction is a reflection of our mortal experience, and these are the things that our brains are built to latch onto. This is the answer to the grand puzzle, and it's been under your noses all along.

Conflict is a component of life, not its meaning. Even achievement, the end result of successful conflict, provides only shallow relief, as you've implied. The struggle of the fly in the marmalade is an inescapable part of human life, and we learn to crave the waves to savor their cresting vistas, but at the core, what we really want is the preservation of all that is good in our lives - for perfect love, joy, hope, and every pleasant and pure thing to eternally crest in our hearts without waning. We crave boundless satiety. We desire beauty and excitement in unending supply, and for this we throw ourselves upon the waves of conflict time and again, because, in this mortal world, there are no eternities, only continuities, yet the fulfillment of this drive for eternal essences does find its fulfilment, but not in Man and not in the mortal world. It is only in Christ. He is the door, and the destination. The spotless Lamb of Jacob, in he is the weight of glory of which only shadows exist in our art and fable.

This is a non sequitur. Your post reads like one of those bait-and-switch copypasta memes. I was nodding my head while reading until the last few sentences, where your entire philosophical argument fell apart and was simplified to "muh faith in the lord because reasons (source: trust me bro)".

Why you haven't mentioned man's metaphysical struggle? Too much materialism is vulgar.

Then you didn't comprehend it. For how could a sincere thinker possibly be bored entering a channel of argument directly implied by his own thoughts? I have to admit, I'm disappointed. Your initial post led me to believe this discussion could have been, first of all, a discussion - even a fun one, but with one thrust, you've given way; like a tree that stands tall in the calm, but topples with a light breeze. The reality is, my argument became its most philosophical the moment I brought up Christ. Too bad. In that case, I'll tell you the same thing as other anons who don't like to think - the straightforward answer: seek Christ.

I believe in a universal metaphysical God, aka that we are all a part of God. I cannot believe that only Jesus is God. I cannot believe in a concept of Heaven and Hell, only that they are states of mind. Convince me otherwise
