I read Atlas Shrugged as a teenager and it unironically saved my life. It was my first time consuming an ideological screed that was so ridiculous that I could not internalize it, and so I learned discernment. I shudder to think how awful my life would be today if I hadn't read it.

I had the exact same experience with this book. Her philosophy and worldview were so bewildering to me, it served as a catalyst for my resentment of individualism/materialism and I owe her a lot for this. If anything Ayn Rand presented me with the true face of evil when I needed most, and I will forever be grateful for it.

Honest question. Are people on 4chan/lit ironically Christian or for real. It's for me hard to believe that there would be a lot of christians or muslim on this godforsaken website. Frequently see some posts about religious folks talking about how amazing quran or bible is but I fail to see if it's ironic or for real. It's been a long time I used to visit 4chan boards so I feel out of touch am i missing some inside joke ?

There is a lot of Christians. What I mostly saw was American protestant and evangelicals, but in the last year or two I see a lot of Catholics (such as myself). I'm not sure how you're surprised with this, 4chan is mostly a right wing site. 4chan isn't even that bad as you say really. Twitter is actually terrible now. I don't think /lit/ is as religious as other boards tho, but I see christians post daily usually orthodox and catholic literature (haha protestants have no literature)

Probably a close tie between Marcus Valerius Martialis and Emperor Julians AGAINST THE GALILEANS..... I tend to come back to them both every few months. Martial, because it's grounding, Iulianos because it's apt on virtually every subject I find myself dealing with.

You're just gas-lighting at this point; 'actual' trolling, christian-anon. You're fully aware of at least, this bit:
>Shouldn't you child-molesters and men in dresses cutting off your balls with your fantasy non-science based ideology be like completely at home in the mainsteam culture of today?
if not, I suggest you educate yourself on the on-going contemporary and historical crimes of your newly adopted heathen cult shack, you LARPing fucking Westerner.

I'd have more respect if you weren't playing-acting as a catholic in modern times, given that every english language speaking country already banned you animals and that there is no grounds to claim any kind of handed-down culture about this.

What was this book even about? It's one of those I always heard people talking about, as if I was supposed to have read it in college or somewhere.

I imagined it were the story of a little man hiding in malt barn throwing bits of rye at people and hiding and giggling when they turned to see what was happening. And there were like t'other boy who caught the bits of rye one day and they become friends or sumat.

I bought a copy of Plato's dialogues when I was 16
Reading it I was struck by how people were talking and thinking in similar ways to how we talk today, honestly before then I didn't even know people were writing things down
It was in particular symposium that really made me feel that I was getting a glimpse through time to real people
Ever since I have read history and 'old' texts when previously I had no interest in history beyond watching some guy on youtube talk about how the Sherman was the best tank and that the Bismarck was an amazing ship

then just hop right in:

Don't worry about the commentary on the Gita, you can read that later. Just read the contents of it. It's pretty short as well, you could read it in a day easy. In fact, it can be recited in less than 3 hours! https://mega.nz/file/TnQyXSqZ#j4VkyaWNOzrv5OPo42Z8upyH2FOB62CsfXL1G1e9JJ8
