And yes, the boat scene in the Iliad is crucially important to understanding the development of Hegel's historical thought, so you can't get a translation which skips it. In fact, reading the Iliad in translation is going to make it very hard to even get a grasp of Hegel at all.

Well you can start with Philosophy of History which is basically a book on what generally is though as Western-centric history. You'll get general knowledge on antiquity, medieval era and modernity. The other Hegel books might be an interesting read, but they are end-game philosophy, so not for you.

Also don't even think Hegel leads to Marx, as marxists would like you to believe. Hegel is an utmost defender of western living and a Christian(although the wrong kind of Christian).

Read Mein Kampf.

If you desire a deeper understanding of it you may find a good world-concept in National-Socialism.

If you are scared to read it or worried that downloading it would place you on some sort of registered the conditioning has worked and you are controlled.

the mainstream system of schooling is the lynchpin of everything.

something I enjoyed that I don't see discussed much is his account of his experiences during the first world war. it's written in the form of a heroic tragedy that was extremely emotionally persuasive. I found myself severely distraught that I couldn't help this man and his nation from another time in even the most simple of ways. a very strong element to include when trying to convince others toward ideology and action.

It is wild that most modern (jewish) scholars insist he embellished his service during the war, was never in any real danger and was largely kept away from any fighting. All this appears to be simply a character assassination of Hitler. He was able to command the loyalty of huge sections of German society, especially the military. Hardened, toughened men who experienced some of the worst horrors of the war. One is not able to do that if what they claim was true. I too found his war stories moving, especially his time in the hospital.

Nonfiction

Mein Kampf

Turner Diaries is not actually a good book but it's fucking hilarious to read how Pierce thought the world would be in the future and how he actually underestimated how fucked everything would be. Serpent's walk was written by a guy best known for writing a D&D setting of all things, came out after his death that he was low-key writing althist about the SS going to another dimension or some whacky shit.

I've been working on a novel of my own set in clownworld 2030, with the conceit being that it's told from the perspective of a black guy who's just observing the civil war from the sidelines because he got IED'd in Syria and can't fight. There's a scene where he is captured along with a unit of left-wing guerillas, and the Neo-Nazis execute all of the white people and Jews, but leave the protagonist, another black guy and a spic alive, and says "Yeah we made a deal with the Nation of Islam that we wouldn't kill the blacks and we made a deal with the Mexican government that we wouldn't kill any Mexicans," and the spic says "oh I'm from Guatemala" and they immediately shoot him and then let the blacks go.

A sort of light-hearted take on an American race war.

You shouldn’t be looking to read blatantly ideological material. You’re going to have to engage with people and institutions that are totally separate from and opposed to your worldview. They don’t care if Bataille was a cryptofascist or Yockey would support the Russian invasion of Ukraine or whether Himmler’s runestone interpretation was rooted in perennial truths and then fight over Evola vs Guenon as the voice of perennial tradition. Go look up some college syllabuses for political science, literature, philosophy, art history whatever because you are sure as shit going to have to be able to run intellectual circles around establishment figures on canonical material if you want your fringe ideology to take over

Marxism is the examination of class relations and the assumption that they are the root cause of all issues, and that by only examining the materialistic conditions of the worker one can extract conclusions of how to progress. Simply mentioning hardship of people working is not marxist, if you bothered to read it Marx or Mein Kampf you would know this.

No one is interested in scholastic orthodoxy, especially not now, when the academy can't even produce thinkers with perspective like Gregor anymore because they have been re-consuming and re-producing their own recycled propaganda for so long that the dilution has reached a theoretical maximum. One should read whatever gives one a good perspective on fascism. Gregor was criticized for having race realist views anyway, and probably would have agreed with much of David Duke's original platform, which was perfectly sane and legitimate especially by the standards of its time. Gregor is also quite clearly modestly sympathetic with Fascism and sees it in purely functionalist terms. Other great mainstream writers are also probably "problematic" from your perspective. Nolte was a holocaust revisionist or at least in favor of free speech for them, and Sternhell was an ardent Israeli zionist. Gottfried is a paleocon and many say a quasi-fascist.

MacDonald is perfectly fine. He should be read precisely because he is so controversial. Anyone controversial should be read. People should form their own opinions, not obey moralizing scholastics who can't even write good books anymore.

uhh i think ive had an argument with you on here before, either that or every retarded chud on /lit/ who actually reads is just starting to blend into one.
I read that Roger Griffin book Fascism and Modernism, it was pretty great, and a good example of a mainstream scholar who has an innteresting perspective and synthesizes a massive amount of material. I agree it's pretty tiresome when some scholar of fascism slips into the same old line about the importance of liberal values and democracy, as if fascism has nothing valuable to teach us, but good work is still being produced by mainstream scholars... aristotle kallis' book about nazi propaganda, and paul Furlong's book about evola are two more examples.

>Gregor was criticized for having race realist views anyway
I've seen this claim around the place, can you give any source on it? or just criticisms of gregor generally? He clearly has some fascist sympathies but most 'scholastic' experts on fascist ideology seem to cite him approvingly. I also have seen the claim that he published in Mosley's postwar fascist journal, but again ive found no serious evidence to back it up.

>MacDonald is perfectly fine. He should be read precisely because he is so controversial. Anyone controversial should be read. People should form their own opinions, not obey moralizing scholastics who can't even write good books anymore.
suns rising so i wanna take a walk instead of responding to this in detail but pretty much every factual statement in there is wrong. Nolte believed wasnt a "holocaust revisionist" in the popular sense of a denier, he just believed that jewish organizations were complicit for some of the causes... sternhell criticized israel for its fascist tendencies. and obviously its not worth reading something just because it's controversial. The only good reason to read someone like david duke or william luther pierce is to understand the phenomenon of extremism. The actual ideas in these works are worthless.

It's possible but I don't know. I really liked Griffin's book as well. You can tell he's trying to put together thoughts he's been developing for years into a cohesive whole. Do you read German? Rohkramer is also incredible, I think one of his books is in English too.

I think the last people writing good scholarship on fascism and right wing extremism are exceptions or they're senior scholars. If you saw some of the crap that's coming out recently, you'd know what I mean. I just check it out occasionally because of pic related phenomenon, but it's shockingly bad considering how hot a topic it is. You can tell the new crop of academics just can't do any social science that isn't based on talking points and surface level analysis. You won't get another Griffin out of this except as exceptions to the rule.

>on Gregor
I only mentioned it because I've heard other other people mention it to disparage him a lot. I personally don't care and wouldn't know the citation. I think he wrote something about it in his youth. It was probably incredibly mild. The way people react to Gregor is a good segue into your statements about MacDonald and reading controversial figures. Have you ever read the email exchanges about him and pushing him out of tenure? They're proof that tenure is meaningless and also proof that soft power should be met with hard and conscious resistance. I'm sure you're a perfectly reasonable guy despite our disagreements in worldview but when you say things like people are just "wrong" or "worthless" you are acting as a frontline soldier for generals in the war of thought control who do not care about you or me. We would never be able to have this discussion in places controlled by the people who agree with you and who would pat you on the back for saying the things I read are worthless and self-evidently bad and stupid etc. Have you read The Spy Who Came In From the Cold? >>Gregor was criticized for having race realist views anyway
>I've seen this claim around the place, can you give any source on it? or just criticisms of gregor generally?
from wikipedia
In 1959, Gregor joined with Robert E. Kuttner to found the International Association for the Advancement of Ethnology and Eugenics (IAAEE), where Gregor acted as secretary. According to Gregor, the organization was founded to restore "an intellectual climate in the U.S., and throughout the Western World, which would permit a free and open discussion of racial ... problems." The organization was funded by segregationist Wickliffe Draper to oppose the civil rights movement.[4]

Haven't seen Culture of Critique mentioned unless it's in one of those shitty infographs I never read. That's a travesty and a key to understanding a lot of what's going on in the world today. Definitely an eye-opener for the uninitiated. For a more balanced worldview I'd recommend Ship of Fools by Tucker Carlson, The Divide and Griftopia by Matt Taibbi, Death of the West by Pat Buchanan, and Camp of the Saints by Jean Raspail. All great in their own right.

For some entertainment purposes, Hunter and The Turner Diaries are fun if not particularly well-written, and Siege reads like a schizophrenic's diary. If you're looking for mindless brutality written by folks exposed as actual federal agents for the express purpose of radicalizing potential domestic terrorists, Iron Gates (I think that's what it's called) is kind of a WN version of an Edward Lee book replete with rape and torture. Adjustment Day by Palahniuk is an ambitious and entertaining read, but the execution of a great idea admittedly leaves something to be desired.

If you want something heavier, go with just about anything from David Irving. Hitler's War is probably his masterpiece, but his Goebbels's biography is great as well. Hitler's Table Talk is also a good read, although I've heard its veracity has been called into question on more than one occasion. Of course read Mein Kampf. Can't go wrong with Machiavelli either.

Saving the best for last, Jim Goad's Redneck Manifesto might be my all-time favorite book of any genre. You'll laugh, learn, be pissed off and you'll likely come back to it for another reading at least once a year. Outstanding writer and a 10/10 book. You won't be disappointed, particularly if you come from a middle class/lower middle class background and are sick of being blamed for all of society's ills despite a life of despair and constant recriminations despite yielding no institutional power whatsoever.

Hope you find something you like in there, anon. Happy reading.
