There was probably a lot written about Baruch Goldstein back in the day. He was the quintessential Israeli ultranationalist. Look into anything written on the modern orthodox (bible thumping non-Haredim).

Israel is Cognitive Dissonance: The country. Israelis must believe they are the poor victimized nuclear armed unquestioned regional power. They must believe that the country that was founded on paramilitary terrorism faces unspeakable evil when the Hamas and Hizbullah uses paramilitary terrorism against them. They must believe that all of their wars of aggression were necessary defensive actions. They must believe that the ultra-orthodox parasites and the psychotic settlers constantly kicking off shitstorms are valued members of the community; and they have to do all of this while maintaining good PR to the west.

The schism between the ones who want to deal with these contradictions by saying "Fuck it", killing wogs and basically never stopping and the ones who only want to kill the wogs as necessary to maintain peace and order, and not disrupt business is at the heart of Israeli politics.
