21221545 No.21221545 [Reply] [Original]

I love you guys, i love /lit/. No one reads now, we live in such times... Yet there exists community to unite people who actually read, who help each other to improve, or just to feel less alone. No matter what you read, you can create your own thread, write your opinion or question there and there will be always someone to discuss and confront your opinion or to recommend where to find more info about what you like. I will never forget all the people who helped on /lit/ during my 6 years here, all the recommendation i got for great books with potential to change my life, all the help i got in writing critique threads - anonymous people, i never even met, who spend their free time to help me, tears of joy come to my eyes when i think about all you wonderful people.
And if some of you here feel miserable like i often felt in early 20s: remember, often there are simple ways to improve your mood. Even if you are neet, you probably have phone, there are so many good apps for workout: pushups, yoga, you don't even need to leave your house. "In healthy body healthy spirit", i assure you it will make you feel better, and it will make you more engaged in reading and writing. There is no excuse to feel miserable all the time, unless you really are mentally sick, well try at least.

No one reads because it's not useful. Look around, we live in the most advanced era. Yet no one reads? How do you cope with that glaring contradiction?

Time moves on. Just as we moved from pen to keyboard. Horse to car. Online media aggregation is a better educational tool than books will ever be.

Unironically this is the reason that average IQ is increasing. Small tidbits of curiosity accelerate general intelligence much more than some philosonigger publishing his toilet paper diatribe as anything profound in 500 pages. If you want to become more intelligent, more learned. Shorten stuff and intake more.

>Why is research output increasing year on year?
Because all of that research is worthless and things are published exclusively on tenure and social expectation, not worth.
>Why by any metric are we a more superior, intelligent society?
Because of this train of thought. We value schizophrenic metrics to guide us through a chaotic world that by all means is falling apart, and our one and only flaw has always been how good we are at gaming these inorganic statistics. We have forgotten what it means to be intelligent and are collectively walking upon our doom based only on worthless metrics and a fear for engaging with anything in any way that isn't superficial.

Absolutely. I hardly ever leave my home, but my health is great. All you really need is a decent doorway pull up bar and a good backpack + heavy books. Can build a respectable physique and be /lit/. Cheers.

This board became living dead at the end of last year, with its virtually total invasion by Zoomer forces, and influences; Millennials have been relegated to things of legend, yet some rangers, and ghosts, still remain; now, one is left wondering whether it will end like this, or whether the world will be stable enough for Centennials to come on the scene.

/lit/ is mostly based, you get a lot of great reading recommendations and occasionally some phenomenal in-depth philosophical discussion that is quite advanced, along with a general appreciation for arts, culture and fitness it’s a comf vibe if you just lurk, but if you actually attempt to engage you’ll find that /lit/ also unfortunately suffers from almost all of the same problems many social media platforms suffer from, you’ll encounter a metric shit ton of asinine arseholes whom constantly only want to degrade you, the threads, topics and even conversations are practically on rails with no room for you, bots likely abound and there’s absolutely no transparency when it comes to the oldfags (or glowies) that are undoubtably running the show, or for that matter what their agenda is. I personally like the anon nature of it though, especially the fact that the threads are eventually deleted.
