Pulpy- horror, mystery or adventure stories?

Bonus points if they are set 1850-1950.

Why is /lit/ such a slow board?!
This is depressing!!!

Also anything good utilizing the Cuthulhu-Mythos. (Nothing by Lovecraft though, already read everything..but anything similar).

Basically I'm looking for good modern, Verne, Lovecraft or Doyle TYPE stories.

Oh I'm sure its good but ... You know that feeling when all you really want is a bag of vinegar flavoured chips? The greatest steak or ice cream dessert could be offered to you... But you still want those damn vinegar chips.

Not to say the book doesn't fall well under "Adventure" (And it's even set in the 1850s) but it's not quite vinegar..

Thanks though, It's on my list now.

Fuck I do know that feel. Fucking Sour Cream and Onions, I want my god damn salt and vinegar chips right now.

Give it a shot anyway. It reads like an adventure novel to me. Try out Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy. They aren't pulpy in the slightest, but those are the best modern adventure stories I've read in my life.

Also, check out Blood Meridian. It's adventure and it's set in the late 1800s. Not pulpy though.

Are The Dresden files pulpy? It sounds fun.
